Molecular systematics ofAbrothrix longipilis(Rodentia: Cricetidae: Sigmodontinae) in Chile [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mammalogy, 2010
We evaluated systematic relationships among most of the subspecies of the long-haired sigmodontine mouse Abrothrix longipilis in Chile. We sequenced the complete cytochrome-b gene and 634 base pairs of intron 7 of the b-fibrinogen gene from specimens from 17 localities along the distributional range of A. longipilis.

Juquitiba-like Hantavirus from 2 Nonrelated Rodent Species, Uruguay

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2008
Serologic and genetic analyses indicate that a Juquitiba-like hantavirus circulates in Maldonado, Uruguay. This virus is carried by 2 rodent species, Oligoryzomys nigripes and Oxymycterus nasutus.

New records of the red-rumped mouse Juliomys pictipes (Osgood, 1933) (Rodentia: Sigmodontinae) in coastal Atlantic Forest of Paraná, southern Brazil

open access: yesBiotemas, 2014
Juliomys pictipes is a Sigmodontinae rodent endemic to the Atlantic Forest. Herein, we report the first records of the species on the coast of the state of Paraná, filling a gap in the species’ distribution.

Robertsonian chromosome polymorphism of Akodon molinae (Rodentia: Sigmodontinae): analysis of trivalents in meiotic prophase Polimorfismo cromosómico Robertsoniano de Akodon molinae (Rodentia: Sigmodontinae)

open access: yesRevista Chilena de Historia Natural, 2001
Akodon molinae (with 2n = 42-43-44 and an FN = 44) shows a remarkable polymorphism of chromosome 1 in natural and laboratory populations. Specimens 2n = 42, named single homozygotes (SH), have a chromosome pair 1 formed by two large metacentric chromosomes.

Molecular phylogenies, chromosomes and dispersion in Brazilian akodontines (Rodentia, Sigmodontinae) Filogenia molecular, cromossomos e dispersão em akodontinos do Brasil (Rodentia, Sigmodontinae)

open access: yesIheringia: Série Zoologia, 2009
A new molecular phylogeny for akodontine rodents from Brazil was proposed. The phylogenetic tree was enriched with the area of occurrence and with information on the karyotype of the samples. Based on this enriched tree, and with a described methodology, hypotheses were proposed on the karyotype and area of occurrence of the ancestors of each Clade ...

First record of Mastophorus muris (Gmelin, 1790) (Nematoda: Spiruroidea) from a wild host in South America

open access: yesParasite, 2003
Mastophorus muris (Gmelin, 1790) (Nematoda: Spiruroidea) is reported parasitizing the grey leaf-eared mouse Graomys griseoflavus (Waterhouse, 1837) (Rodentia: Sigmodontinae) from the province of La Pampa, Argentina.
