RAPD analysis of Nectomys squamipes (Rodentia, Sigmodontinae) populations [PDF]
Random amplified of polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis was used to assess genetic distance and the genetic structure of populations of Nectomys squamipes, a semiaquatic rodent species distributed along watercourses. DNA samples of five populations were analyzed using three primers, producing 45 scorable bands, 31 of which were polymorphic.

The findings of this study suggest ONT sequencing as a suitable candidate to solve species identification problems in metazoan nonmodel organisms and generate complete mtDNA datasets. Abstract Molecular information is crucial for species identification when facing challenging morphology‐based specimen identifications.
