(2+1)D-SLR: an efficient network for video sign language recognition

Neural Computing and Applications, 2021
The most existing sign language recognition methods have made significant progress. However, there are still problems in the field of sign language recognition: Traditional SLR technology relies on external devices such as data gloves, position tracker, and has achieved limited success.

An Efficient Sign Language Recognition (SLR) System Using Camshift Tracker and Hidden Markov Model (HMM)

SN Computer Science, 2021
An efficient Sign Language Recognition (SLR) system could facilitate communication with hearing impaired persons by identifying the sign gestures. Similar to regional spoken languages, different regions have developed their own sign gesture representations (for example, American Sign Language (ASL), German Sign Language (GSL), Indian Sign Language (ISL)

A position and rotation invariant framework for sign language recognition (SLR) using Kinect

Multimedia Tools and Applications, 2017
Sign language is the only means of communication for speech and hearing impaired people. Using machine translation, Sign Language Recognition (SLR) systems provide medium of communication between speech and hearing impaired and others who have difficulty in understanding such languages.

3D Motion Capture for Indian Sign Language Recognition (SLR)

2017
A 3D motion capture system is being used to develop a complete 3D sign language recognition (SLR) system. This paper introduces motion capture technology and its capacity to capture human hands in 3D space. A hand template is designed with marker positions to capture different characteristics of Indian sign language.

SLR-YOLO: An improved YOLOv8 network for real-time sign language recognition

Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems
This study proposes a method to help people with different degrees of hearing impairment to better integrate into society and perform more convenient human-to-human and human-to-robot sign language interaction through computer vision. Traditional sign language recognition methods make it challenging to get good results on scenes with backgrounds close ...
