Noticing relevant problem features: Activating prior knowledge affects problem solving by guiding encoding

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2013
This study investigated whether activating elements of prior knowledge can influence how problem solvers encode and solve simple mathematical equivalence problems (e.g., 3 + 4 + 5 = 3 + _).

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Letter to sponsors

open access: yesNonpartisan Education Review, 2013
I feel that I owe you, as well as all the individuals and organizations that recommended me for Common Core’s Validation Committee, an explanation for why I could not sign off on the final version of the Common Core State Standards.

Return of Logos: Ontological Memory → Information → Time [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Total ontological unification of matter at all levels of reality as a whole, its “grasp” of its dialectical structure, space dimensionality and structure of the language of nature – “house of Being” [1], gives the opportunity to see the “place” and to ...

On sign changes for almost prime coefficients of half-integral weight modular forms

open access: yes, 2016
For a half-integral weight modular form $f = \sum_{n=1}^{\infty} a_f(n)n^{\frac{k-1}{2}} q^n$ of weight $k = l +\frac{1}{2}$ on $\Gamma_0(4)$ such that $a_f(n)$ ($n$ $\in$ $\mathbb{N}$) are real, we prove for a fixed suitable natural number $r$ that $a_f(

Smarter Sensors Through Machine Learning: Historical Insights and Emerging Trends across Sensor Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights how machine learning (ML) algorithms are employed to enhance sensor performance, focusing on gas and physical sensors such as haptic and strain devices. By addressing current bottlenecks and enabling simultaneous improvement of multiple metrics, these approaches pave the way toward next‐generation, real‐world sensor applications.

Four Notes Towards Propaganda and the Post-Digital Symptom

open access: yesA Peer-Reviewed Journal About, 2014
What is it about propaganda that Alan Turing deemed sufficient in describing a statement about puzzles, problems and solutions? Despite not being an overtly political writer, Turing’s relevancy is undoubtedly important for the politics of digital ...

HOW DOES PRE-SERVICE MATHEMATICS TEACHER PROVE THE LIMIT OF A FUNCTION BY FORMAL DEFINITION?

open access: yesJME (Journal of Mathematics Education), 2018
The purpose of this study was to investigate the flow of thought of the pre-service mathematics teachers through the answers of a function limit evaluation by formal definition. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive method. The research

Synergistic Compatibilization of CsPbBr3 Perovskites and HfO2 Nanocrystals for Hybrid Sensitized Nanoscintillators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lead halide perovskite nanocrystals are promising scintillators but suffer from reabsorption losses and limited compatibility with high‐Z additives. Hybridization of CsPbBr3 nanocrystals with PbBr2‐passivated HfO2 nanoparticle sensitizers, achieved during or after synthesis, produces stable composites with maintained optical quality, improved ...

Single‐Crystalline Lateral p‐SnS/n‐SnSe van der Waals Heterostructures by Vapor Transport Growth with In Situ Bi Doping

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In‐situ doping during growth of SnSe and subsequent attachment of SnS produces high‐quality lateral pn‐heterojunctions between van der Waals semiconductors. Electron beam induced current measurements demonstrate electrically active pn‐junctions, paving the way for devices that harness charge separation at lateral interfaces in layered heterostructures.
