Navigation by inertial device and signals of opportunity
Signal Processing, 2017Inertial navigation systems are known to yield rather accurate measurements over short time intervals, while their error variance tends to increase with time. In order to keep the error within specification most systems use GPS signals. In the absence of GPS data, due to jamming or spoofing, it is desirable to use signals of opportunity instead.

Airborne antenna array calibration with signals of opportunity
2013 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium (APSURSI), 2013An approach is presented for in-situ calibration of an airborne antenna array using a signal of opportunity. In-situ calibration requires determining location of the unknown signal, the array's response in the direction of the signal, and the application of updates to the stored antenna response.

Situation assisted indoor localization using signals of opportunity
2014 International Conference on Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation (IPIN), 2014Development of an accurate, less-complexity indoor positioning system using Smartphone is the scope of this research. In an indoor environment, a Smartphone can communicate with the signals of opportunity. The signals for experimentation include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GSM and optical signals which will almost be available in all the buildings and a ...

Recursive Range Estimation Using Astrophysical Signals of Opportunity
Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, 2017An estimator for determining the range of a space vehicle relative to some origin by using astrophysical signals of opportunity is developed. The signals used are x-ray photons emitted by pulsars.

MULTIPLE SIGNALS OF OPPORTUNITY FOR LAND REMOTE SENSING
2023Multiple Signals of Opportunity (multi-SoOp) across different frequencies and polarizations offer a potential breakthrough for remote sensing of root-zone soil moisture (RZSM). Deeper penetration depths of existing communication transmissions in the frequency ranges of 137–138, 240–270, and 360–380 MHz enable the estimation of RZSM by complementing ...

Measurement of atmospheric refractivity using signals of opportunity
2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2012High-resolution numerical weather models require fine-scale (1–5 km) measurements of moisture fields over large areas (>20,000 km2). Existing techniques such as GPS are not able to meet these requirements. This paper discusses the feasibility of a novel method for measuring atmospheric refractivity by the opportunistic reception and processing of ...

Calibration of active arrays using signals of opportunity
IEE Seminar on Calibration of Active Phased Array Antennas, 2005The advantages of active phased array radars could be made available to a much wider range of radars than is possible at present, if the arrays could be made cheaper. The work described here has been studying how arrays may be calibrated using targets in the radar's environment can be used for calibration or astronomical sources, such as the sun.

Bistatic Radar Equation for Signals of Opportunity Revisited
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2018The bistatic radar equation currently used for simulating surface-reflected waveforms or delay-Doppler maps (DDMs), produced by signals of opportunity from global navigation satellites system (GNSS) or communication satellites, was previously derived under some limiting assumptions.

Detection of objects on LEO using signals of opportunity
2017 Signal Processing Symposium (SPSympo), 2017Recently more attention has been paid to the space debris orbiting the Earth. Until 5 July 2016, the United States Strategic Command tracked a total of 17 729 artificial objects including 1419 operational satellites[1]. Information about the current position of these objects should be taken into consideration while planning space missions.
