Advancing Research on Biomaterials and Biological Materials with Scanning Electron Microscopy under Environmental and Low Vacuum Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...

Diffusion Tensor Tractography of the Brainstem Pyramidal Tract: A Study on the Optimal Reduction Factor in Parallel Imaging

open access: yes대한영상의학회지, 2016
Purpose Parallel imaging mitigates susceptibility artifacts that can adversely affect diffusion tensor tractography (DTT) of the pons depending on the reduction (R) factor. We aimed to find the optimal R factor for DTT of the pons that would allow us to

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Adaptive Weighted Damage Imaging of Lamb Waves Based on Deep Learning

open access: yesIEEE Access
The damage imaging method based on Lamb wave beamforming has been widely used in the field of SHM. The DAS method has a high imaging efficiency, but its ability to suppress interference signals is weak, resulting in low imaging resolution and signal-to ...

Signal-to-noise ratio analysis and improvement for fluorescence tomography imaging

open access: yesReview of Scientific Instruments, 2018
CCD-based fluorescence tomography is widely used for small animal whole-body imaging. In this report, systematic signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) analyses of a fluorescence tomography imaging (FTI) system were performed, resulting in an easy-to-follow strategy to optimize hardware configurations and operational conditions for acquiring high-quality imaging ...

Similarity‐oriented method for inverse synthetic aperture radar imaging with low signal‐to‐noise ratio

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation
Noise impairs the performance of inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) motion compensation, which induces severe defocusing under low signal‐to‐noise ratio environments.

Sustainable Synthesis of Bio‐Based Magnetic and Conductive Wood for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation
