Signal Processing and Receivers: Theory

2008
In this chapter, topics concerned with signal processing and noise analysis are covered in Sect.4.1. These lead to the fundamental results in Sect. 4.2 and Appendix C which are needed to understand the properties of radiometers. Specifics of actual receivers will be presented in the next chapter.

Introduction to Signal Processing Theory

2014
Abstract The present chapter presents a brief overview of some key aspects of the theory of signal processing trying as much as possible to interconnect them. We start by discussing the basic concepts related to the continuous- and discrete-time signals and systems with emphasis on the latter.

Coding theory for reliable signal processing

2014 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC), 2014
With increased dependence on technology in daily life, there is a need to ensure their reliable performance. There are many applications where we carry out inference tasks assisted by signal processing systems. A typical system performing an inference task can fail due to multiple reasons: presence of a component with permanent failure, a malicious ...

Signal Processing and Representation Theory

2010
The focus in the previous chapter was on the representation of finite groups by matrices and linear transformations (over the field of real or complex numbers). The related theory is very rich in content, and stands on its own as an area of study in mathematics.

Correlation theory-based signal processing method for CMF signals

Measurement Science and Technology, 2016
Signal processing precision of Coriolis mass flowmeter (CMF) signals affects measurement accuracy of Coriolis mass flowmeters directly. To improve the measurement accuracy of CMFs, a correlation theory-based signal processing method for CMF signals is proposed, which is comprised of the correlation theory-based frequency estimation method and phase ...

Signal Processing at Receivers: Detection Theory

2014
As an application of the statistical hypothesis testing, signal detection plays a key role in signal processing at receivers of wireless communication systems. To accept or reject a hypothesis based on observations, the hypotheses are possible statistical descriptions of observations using statistical hypothesis testing tools.

Ultrawideband Signals: Theory, Simulation and Digital Processing

2006 3rd International Conference on Ultrawideband and Ultrashort Impulse Signals, 2006
The propagation of the pulse ultrawideband (UWB) signals in plasma media, in particular, in the near-to-Earth's plasma layers was simulated. The dispersive distortions of the UWB signal in that media were estimated. The absorption dispersion and the scattering dispersion were taken into consideration.

LINEAR SIGNAL PROCESSING THEORY AND MEASUREMENTS

1963
Abstract : A time-varying random linear system model is hypothesized for the communication mediu. The fundamental parameters and analysis techniques for the linear system are described, and applied in a multiple alternative communication mode with Rayleigh fading. A comparison of several receiver types is then effected. Some measurement limitations and

Digital Signal Processing for Measurement Systems

2006
This book covers the theoretical as well as the practical issues which form the basis of the modern DSP-based instruments and measurement methods. It covers the basics of DSP theory before discussing the critical aspects of DSP unique to measurement science.

Process dissociation and mixture signal detection theory.

Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition, 2008
The process dissociation procedure was developed in an attempt to separate different processes involved in memory tasks. The procedure naturally lends itself to a formulation within a class of mixture signal detection models. The dual process model is shown to be a special case.
