A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema
Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.ABSTRACT Objectives
SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.Quinty Bisseling, Mark D. Parker, Sven Kerst, Richard A. Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.ABSTRACT Background
Imaging and postmortem studies indicate that abnormalities in monoaminergic neurotransmission contribute to cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease (PD). However, it remains uncertain if cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) monoamine metabolites can serve as biomarkers of cognitive decline in early PD.Jing‐Yu Shao, Rong Li, Yu‐Xiang Jiao, Kai Ma, Hong‐Qi Yang, Zheng‐Yu Sun, Jie‐Wen Zhang, Shuai Chen +7 morewiley +1 more sourceIV Thrombolysis Facilitates Interventional Reperfusion in Non‐Cardioembolic but Not Cardioembolic Stroke
Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.ABSTRACT Objective
Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) before thrombectomy for ischemic stroke may alter clot structure and procedural performance. We investigated how IVT relates to thrombectomy metrics across stroke etiologies. Methods

Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.ABSTRACT Objective
To evaluate [18F]fluorodeprenyl‐D2 ([18F]F‐DED) positron‐emission tomography (PET) imaging as a biomarker of disease activity in autoimmune encephalitis (AIE) associated with glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65) antibodies. Methods
[18F]F‐DED PET was performed in 25 GAD65‐AIE patients and 8 controls using dynamic (0–60 min) and ...Julia S. Dorneich, Jonathan A. Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.ABSTRACT Background
Cognitive impairment is a common non‐motor symptom in Multiple Sclerosis (MS), negatively affecting autonomy and Quality of Life (QoL). Innovative rehabilitation strategies, such as semi‐immersive virtual reality (VR) and computerized cognitive training (CCT), may offer advantages over traditional cognitive rehabilitation (TCR ...Maria Grazia Maggio, Desiree Latella, Lilla Bonanno, Paulo Cezar Rocha dos Santos, Marcos Maldonado‐Díaz, Meir Plotnik, Rosaria De Luca, Angelo Quartarone, Rocco Salvatore Calabrò +8 morewiley +1 more sourceMovement Disorders in Aicardi–Goutières Syndrome and Response to Immunomodulation
Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.ABSTRACT
This study characterizes movement disorders and treatment responses in seven children with Aicardi–Goutières syndrome (AGS). We retrospectively evaluated motor phenotypes, neuroimaging, and interferon signatures in patients treated with baricitinib or anifrolumab. Spasticity affected all patients, while dystonia was present in 4/7.Enrique Gonzalez Saez‐Diez, Monica Ferrer Socorro, Kathryn Yang, Nicole Battaglia, Zainab Zaman, Mariko Bennett, Adeline Vanderver, Pui Y. Arthritis Care &Research, EarlyView. Objective
There is growing interest in evaluating new strategies to delay or prevent posttraumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) in individuals who have sustained anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. This study sought to determine characteristics of potential treatments that are acceptable to patients with ACL injury. Methods

Arthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.Objective
Sjögren's disease is an autoimmune disorder that can impact multiple organ systems, including the peripheral nervous system (PNS). PNS manifestations, which can exist concurrently, include mononeuropathies, polyneuropathies, and autonomic nervous system neuropathies.Anahita Deboo, Robert Fox, Katherine M.
