Cognitive GFDM Full-Duplex Radios With RF Impairments and ACI Constraints

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society, 2020
We investigate the problem of sum-rate maximization of a secondary link of full-duplex generalized frequency division multiplexing (GFDM) radios operating over a spectrum hole, which is surrounded by two active primary adjacent channels.

Handover based on a predictive approach of signal‐to‐interference‐plus‐noise ratio for heterogeneous cellular networks

open access: yesIET Communications, 2019
In mobile communication networks, the handover procedure enables a continuous communication service for users on the move. However, handovers, handover failures, and ping‐pong handovers increase the signalling load in the network, resulting in the use of network resources and a reduction of the system throughput.

An efficient method to measure reliability of underwater acoustic communication links

open access: yesJournal of Ocean Engineering and Science, 2016
We consider the problem of evaluating the reliability of underwater acoustic communication (UWAC) systems. Reliability is a requirement for any communication system and is often defined as the probability to achieve a target bit error rate. Evaluation of

High Performance Robust Adaptive Beamforming in the Presence of Array Imperfections

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2016
A high performance robust beamforming scheme is proposed to combat model mismatch. Our method lies in the novel construction of interference-plus-noise (IPN) covariance matrix. The IPN covariance matrix consists of two parts.

A novel adaptive beamforming scheme for array signal data processing

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2023
When the desired signal data exists in the array received data or the steering vector has a mismatch problem, the current traditional adaptive beamformers will suffer from the effect of the desired signal cancelation phenomenon, resulting in a sharp ...

Somatostatin receptor 4 (SSTR4) is a tumor suppressor in cutaneous and head & neck squamous cell carcinomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies somatostatin receptor 4 (Sstr4) as a critical tumor suppressor against skin and head/neck cancers (HNSCC, cSCC, and BCC). The loss of Sstr4 removes a check on cell growth, causing hyperactivation of the MAPK‐ERK signaling pathway (↑).

Neurochemical Endpoints to Inform Early‐Stage Trials of Spinocerebellar Ataxia 2 and 3 in a Multisite Setting

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Neurochemical levels measured by brain MR spectroscopy (MRS) have been proposed as endpoints for clinical trials in early‐stage spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) trials. We tested their trial‐readiness by quantifying neurochemicals in three affected brain regions in early‐stage cohorts of SCA2 and SCA3, examining their reproducibility in ...

Efficient joint power allocation for mitigating intracluster interference in clustered NOMA system

open access: yesETRI Journal
In recent years, the growing demand for massive connectivity has focused researchers’ attention on next-generation radio access techniques. Nonortho-gonal multiple access (NOMA) is a candidate for supporting massive connec-tivity.

Joint Design of Intelligent Reflecting Surface Configuration and Precoding in MISO-VLC Systems

open access: yesPhotonics
To address the problem of insufficient user fairness in multi-user multiple-input single-output visible light communication systems, this paper proposes a joint design scheme of intelligent reflecting surface configuration and precoding to maximize the ...

Is an Apple an Orange? A Large Language Model Benchmark for Candidate Term Extraction and Subclass Decisions Against Upper Ontologies in Engineering and Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.
