Transfer functions for amplitude-modulated signals
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, Part I: Communication and Electronics, 1956THE purpose of this paper is to derive the general theoretical requirements which must be met by linear networks which are to perform specified operations on amplitude modulated signals. In particular, an exact correspondence will be established between a realizable transfer function A (s) which performs a given operation on any modulating function fm ...

Transferability of real-time safety performance functions for signalized intersections
Accident Analysis & Prevention, 2019Optimizing traffic signals in real-time for safety performance can be executable in the era of Connected Vehicles (CVs) when real-time information on vehicle positions and trajectories is available. To achieve this, real-time safety models are needed to understand how changes in signal controllers affect safety in real-time. Recently, several real-time

Signal-Transfer Functions in Threshold and Suprathreshold Vision
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1972A model of threshold and suprathreshold vision in relation to variation of object size is proposed. An important factor in suprathreshold vision is the signal-contrast loss in optical and neural components; in threshold vision, an important additional factor is the manner in which the brain acts on retinal noise.

Signals for transfer function measurements in non-linear systems
Journal of Nuclear Energy. Parts A/B. Reactor Science and Technology, 1964From Symposium on Noise Analysis in Nuclear Systems, Gainesville, Fla., Nov. 1963. The synthesis of test signals for the measurement of dynamic characteristics of noniinear systems described by a functional expansion is discussed. The output of a nonlinear system can be expanded into an infinite sum of functionals of the input, which are multi ...

Anticipating EMI using transfer functions and signal integrity information
2003 IEEE Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility. Symposium Record (Cat. No.03CH37446), 2004Discontinuities in a circuit can lead to signal integrity as well as EMI problems. A method, which efficiently combines full-wave tools and circuit simulators, is proposed herein to analyze the coupling at discontinuities. The proposed method may be applied to practical engineering designs.

Stochastic quantization transfer functions for high resolution signal estimation
2002 14th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing Proceedings. DSP 2002 (Cat. No.02TH8628), 2003Scalar signal quantization is commonly based on a deterministic definition of nonlinear transfer functions. However, in the more general case of stochastic quantization a non-deterministic approach is required. This paper presents an analysis of general stochastic quantization properties derived from a model incorporating a regular deterministic ...

Methods for testing signals considering jitter transfer function
2018 China Semiconductor Technology International Conference (CSTIC), 2018A signal with a jitter in excess of one unit interval will result in a failure of functional testing because the signal and its expected data are misaligned. Additionally, jitter measurements performed without considering the correct jitter transfer function (JTF) will yield incorrect results. Here, two methods are presented: one for functional testing

A new approach for the detection of Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs) from the recorded electromyography (EMG) signals from the muscles around the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) has been presented in this paper. Multivariate Autoregressive (MVAR) modelling has been applied to a six-channel set of EMG signals from the muscles of both sides of the ...

Metrics of system performance are used to assess the abilities and safety of x-ray imaging systems. The detective quantum efficiency (DQE) is used as a measure of "dose efficiency" but, when applied to fluoroscopic systems, requires a measurement of the temporal modulation transfer function (MTF) to account for the effects of system lag. It is shown

Generalized coupled interconnect transfer function and high-speed signal simulations
IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1995A new expression for the coupled interconnect system transfer function has been derived under general linear generator and uncoupled load conditions, i.e., without any restrictions in circuit load impedance. High-speed-signals on coupled interconnects have been simulated using this transfer function. The simulation uses generalized interconnect circuit
