Signal-Transfer Functions in Threshold and Suprathreshold Vision

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1972
A model of threshold and suprathreshold vision in relation to variation of object size is proposed. An important factor in suprathreshold vision is the signal-contrast loss in optical and neural components; in threshold vision, an important additional factor is the manner in which the brain acts on retinal noise.

Cellular signal transduction events as a function of linear energy transfer (LET)

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2007
In order to obtain a deeper insight into the molecular mechanism controlling the cellular response to high-linear energy transfer (LET) radiation, the number and size of pATM (S1981) and gamma-H2AX foci were compared in cultures of diploid human fibroblasts after exposure to charged particles of varying species, energy and LET at the NIRS-HIMAC ...

Symbolic transfer functions for MESFET small-signal parameter extraction [PDF]

open access: possibleIEE Proceedings G Circuits, Devices and Systems, 1991
The paper describes a technique whereby directed graphs can be used to represent the interactions within an active microwave device, described by means of a lumped equivalent circuit. Analytical transfer functions representing the two-port scattering parameter matrix are evaluated.

Transfer-Functions Characterizing the Propagation of AE-Signals

1983
In order to evaluate defects in AE-testing there are three basic problems: Firstly, we have to know relationships between the signal parameters from the AE-sources of different fracture mechanical processes. In the area of NDT the most important are plastic deformation and crack propagation.

Classification of Elbow Electormyography Signals based on Directed Transfer Functions

2008 International Conference on BioMedical Engineering and Informatics, 2008
A new approach for classification of electromyography (EMG) of the flexion and extension signals is introduced here. Multivariate Autoregressive (MVAR) model has been applied to a two-channel set of EMG signals from the biceps and triceps muscles during flexion and extension positions of the elbow.

Signal switching in automated test system for the transfer function characterization

IMTC/99. Proceedings of the 16th IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (Cat. No.99CH36309), 2003
This paper is focussed on a low cost modular instrumentation system achievement. A GPIB interface target using VLSI specialized integrated circuits and several middle capabilities programmable instrument targets have been designed to provide a complete and versatile instrumentation system using a support bus to interconnect the different module ...

Anticipating EMI using transfer functions and signal integrity information

2003 IEEE Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility. Symposium Record (Cat. No.03CH37446), 2004
Discontinuities in a circuit can lead to signal integrity as well as EMI problems. A method, which efficiently combines full-wave tools and circuit simulators, is proposed herein to analyze the coupling at discontinuities. The proposed method may be applied to practical engineering designs.

Transfer function approach to signal discrimination of ULF geomagnetic data

Physics and Chemistry of the Earth, Parts A/B/C, 2004
Abstract In order to study earthquake-related ULF geomagnetic field changes, it is important to discriminate the noises such as magnetic pulsations originated from solar–terrestrial interactions and artificial noises from DC-driven trains and factories.

Stochastic quantization transfer functions for high resolution signal estimation

2002 14th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing Proceedings. DSP 2002 (Cat. No.02TH8628), 2003
Scalar signal quantization is commonly based on a deterministic definition of nonlinear transfer functions. However, in the more general case of stochastic quantization a non-deterministic approach is required. This paper presents an analysis of general stochastic quantization properties derived from a model incorporating a regular deterministic ...

Signal Flow Graphs for Getting Transfer Functions of Active Filters

IEEE Latin America Transactions, 2008
A method to obtain transfer functions of active filters with a single operational amplifier is obtained. The method relies on signal-flow graphs and the theory of Mason which simplifies greatly the approach for getting the same goal but intimidating formulae.
