Modeling the Effects of Speed and Red-Light Cameras and Traffic Signal Countdown Timers at Pre-Timed Controlled Intersections on Traffic Flow

open access: yesMathematics
In this study, the effects of speed and red-light cameras (SRLCs) and traffic signal countdown timers (TSCTs) on the operation of pre-timed signalized intersections were studied through startup lost times (SLTs) and saturation time headways (STHs).

Understanding the Role of Superhydrophobicity and Superhydrophilicity in Salt‐Spray Corrosion of Nanosecond Pulsed Laser‐Textured AA2024 Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanosecond pulse laser texturing yields superhydrophobic and superhydrophilic AA2024 surfaces. Salt‐spray tests show that periodic superhydrophobic patterns suppress pitting, whereas superhydrophilic textures enhance it, linking laser‐induced morphology, wettability, and oxide chemistry to corrosion resistance.

Perception of Waiting Time at Signalized Intersections [PDF]

open access: yes
Perceived waiting time at signalized intersections differs from the real value, and varies with signal design. The onerousness of delay depends on the conditions under which it is experienced.

Adaptive Hydrogels With Spatiotemporal Stiffening Using pH‐Modulating Enzymes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The chemomechanical coupling in an adaptive hydrogel is studied to further the development of adaptive hydrogels. This coupling is achieved by embedding a pH‐modulating enzyme in a pH‐responsive hydrogel. The enzymatic reaction can be triggered locally, which generates a pH‐decreasing wave throughout the system, increasing the crosslinking density and ...

Determining u-turn adjustment factor for signalized intersections in Doha, Qatar

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
This paper summarizes the work conducted to estimating a U-turn adjustment factor at selected signalized intersections in Doha, Qatar. Unfortunately, the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) 2010 does not consider the effect of U-turn traffic on the capacity of

Bioactive Conductive Ti3C2Tx‐Ce Hydrogel Facilitates Spinal Cord Injury Repair Through ROS Scavenging and Mitochondrial Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bioactive conductive Ti3C2Tx‐Ce hydrogels with with scavenging ROS and alleviating neuronal mitochondrial dysfunction are exploited for SCI treatment. This functionality is attributed to interfacial activation modification of Ti3C2Tx with Ce3+ ions to in‐situ form Ce(OH)x‐mediated protective layer, which is beneficial to enabling stable intracellular ...
