The power of Lorentzian wormholes
As shown by Louko and Sorkin in 1995, topology change in Lorentzian signature involves spacetimes with singular points, which they called crotches. We modify their construction to obtain Lorentzian semiclassical wormholes in asymptotically AdS.

The cobordism class of the multiple points of immersions
Let f: M -> N be an even codimensional immersion between smooth manifolds. We derive an explicit formula for the Pontrjagin numbers and signature of the multiple point manifolds in terms of singular cohomology of M and N, the maps induced between these ...

Photoswitching Conduction in Framework Materials
This mini‐review summarizes recent advances in state‐of‐the‐art proton and electron conduction in framework materials that can be remotely and reversibly switched on and off by light. It discusses the various photoswitching conduction mechanisms and the strategies employed to enhance photoswitched conductivity.

A metric of influential spreading during contagion dynamics through the air transportation network. [PDF]
The spread of infectious diseases at the global scale is mediated by long-range human travel. Our ability to predict the impact of an outbreak on human health requires understanding the spatiotemporal signature of early-time spreading from a specific ...

Signature for the Shape of the Universe
If the universe has a nontrivial shape (topology) the sky may show multiple correlated images of cosmic objects. These correlations can be couched in terms of distance correlations.

Direct Evidence of Topological Dirac Fermions in a Low Carrier Density Correlated 5d Oxide
The 5d oxide BiRe2O6 is discovered as a low‐carrier‐density topological semimetal hosting symmetry‐protected Dirac fermions stabilized by nonsymmorphic symmetries. Angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy, quantum oscillations, and magnetotransport measurements reveal gapless Dirac cones, quasi‐2D Fermi surfaces, high carrier mobility, and a field ...

Knot Floer homology and the four-ball genus
We use the knot filtration on the Heegaard Floer complex to define an integer invariant tau(K) for knots. Like the classical signature, this invariant gives a homomorphism from the knot concordance group to Z. As such, it gives lower bounds for the slice

Design and Applications of Multi‐Frequency Programmable Metamaterials for Adaptive Stealth
This article provides a comprehensive overview of metamaterials, including their fundamental principles, properties, synthesis techniques, and applications in stealth, as well as their challenges and future prospects. It covers topics that are more advanced than those typically discussed in existing review articles, while still being closely connected ...

Rich unconventional Hall effects in a single quasi-kagome Kondo Weyl semimetal candidate Ce3TiSb5
It is generally believed that electronic correlation, geometric frustration, and topology, individually, can facilitate the emergence of various intriguing properties that have attracted a broad audience for both fundamental research and potential ...
