A Physics‐Informed Neural Network as a Digital Twin of Optically Turbid Media

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
In this work, a physics‐informed neural network is presented as a digital twin for modeling and studying optically turbid media without requiring reference light. The model learns and integrates complex wavefront modulation behavior, ensuring robustness without explicit calibration.

Bimodal Ionic Conduction through Polymer Films due to Nano Confinement

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This minireview revisits the phenomenon of nano‐confined ion conduction through polymer films. Ions diffuse through polymer films in two distinct modes depending on the nano‐structure and free space for the passage of hydrated or partially hydrated ions.

Deep Learning Methods in Soft Robotics: Architectures and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Soft robotics has seen intense research over the past two decades and offers a promising approach for future robotic applications. However, standard industrial methods may be challenging to apply to soft robots. Recent advances in deep learning provide powerful tools to analyze and design complex soft machines that can operate in unstructured ...

Cleavable Strand‐Fusing Cross‐Linkers as Additives for Chemically Deconstructable Thermosets with Preserved Thermomechanical Properties

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We report cleavable “strand‐fusing cross‐linkers” (SFCs) as additives for polydicyclopentadiene (pDCPD) thermosets. During polymerization, SFCs fuse two network strands at four‐way cleavable cross‐links and thereby achieve network dissolution at very low loadings without compromising thermomechanical properties. SFCs perform similarly under oven curing

Multistable Physical Neural Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article presents the integration of mechanical bistability into physical neural networks (PNNs), enabling memory retention and bridging computation with physical action. By mapping the equilibrium states of bistable, liquid‐filled chambers, it explores stability and introduces global and local training algorithms.

Switching Chirophilic Self‐assembly: From meso‐structures to Conglomerates in Liquid and Liquid Crystalline Network Phases of Achiral Polycatenar Compounds

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 28, Issue 67, December 1, 2022., 2022
The change of the interhelical self‐assembly from enantiophilic to enantiophobic takes place by reduction of the alkyl chain length and leads to a phase transition from the achiral double gyroid via a tetragonal phase to a chiral triple network phase, associated with a transition from an achiral to a mirror symmetry broken liquid.

Enantioselective Photochemical Generation of a Short‐Lived, Twisted Cycloheptenone Isomer: Catalytic Formation, Detection, and Consecutive Chemistry

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
In a proof‐of‐concept study, it was for the first time shown that planar chiral trans‐cycloalk‐2‐enones, such as 2, can be formed enantioselectively from their cis‐isomers by triplet energy transfer from a chiral catalyst. Computational studies performed with cyclohept‐2‐enone and enone 1 provided invaluable insights into the mode of action of the ...
