Topological Signatures for Population Admixture

2015
As populations with multilinear transmission (i.e., mixing of genetic material from two parents, say) evolve over generations, the genetic transmission lines constitute complicated networks. In contrast, unilinear transmission leads to simpler network structures (trees).

Optical signature of topological insulators

Physical Review B, 2009
The axion coupling in topological insulators couples electric polarization with magnetic field, and magnetization with electric field. As a result, the usual laws of electromagnetic wave propagation are modified. We report on the Fresnel formula for the reflection of electromagnetic wave at the interface of materials with different axion couplings. The

Signatures of Topological Superconductors

2015
Topological superconductors are particularly interesting in light of the active ongoing experimental efforts for realizing exotic physics such as Majorana zero modes. These systems have excitations with non-Abelian exchange statistics, which provides a path towards topological quantum information processing.
