The Soil Erosion Paradox Re‐Examined: Alluviation and Land Use History in a Small British Lowland River Catchment in the Late Holocene

open access: yesGeoarchaeology, Volume 41, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
ABSTRACT Modern studies show that soil erosion results in a loss of ecosystem function, particularly fertility, and is a cause of declining agricultural yields. However, despite the well‐attested high rates of soil erosion across Roman and medieval Europe there appears to have been little or no soil‐associated decline in agricultural production—the ...

Expanding the Immunologic and Neuronal Landscape of IgE‐Mediated Anaphylaxis

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 337, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Anaphylaxis is a life‐threatening immunoglobulin E (IgE)‐mediated type I hypersensitivity reaction with rising prevalence and burden. It involves mast cell degranulation upon cross‐linking of antigen on mast cell‐bound IgE. Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated anaphylaxis remain incompletely understood, particularly the induction of systemic symptoms ...

Spectroscopic properties of amber chromophore in silicate glasses

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 1, January 2026.
Amber chromophore involves both an oxidized (Fe3+) and a reduced species (S2−). Redox couples Fe3+/Fe3+ and S2−/(SO4)2− are here presented as a function of oxygen partial pressure in a soda‐lime glass melted at 1400°C (modified after Schreiber et al.).

The influence of closed sutures on cranial morphology in Apert and Crouzon syndromes: A quantitative analysis

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 248, Issue 1, Page 40-52, January 2026.
This quantitative study identified distinct cranial vault morphologies in Apert and Crouzon syndromes, with a larger anterior fossa in Apert and high variability in Crouzon, reflecting different patterns of suture closure. Abstract Craniosynostoses are congenital conditions characterized by premature suture fusions, altering skull growth and ...

Contemporary Hunters in an Archaic Context (Grisons, Switzerland): A Meta‐Modern Attempt at Reconciliation

open access: yesSociologia Ruralis, Volume 66, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Looking back to the ongoing and fluid process of identity formation of the contemporary hunter in Europe (the ‘becoming’ of hunters), this study explores self‐chosen identities, motives and hunter–nature relations in a singularly archaic hunting context: the canton of Grisons, Switzerland. As a qualitative case study, this article investigates
