Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Gudder’s Theorem and the Born Rule

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
We derive the Born probability rule from Gudder’s theorem—a theorem that addresses orthogonally-additive functions. These functions are shown to be tightly connected to the functions that enter the definition of a signed measure.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

The distributional outcomes of one-size-fits-all policy response to societal disruptions on local government transfer dependence [PDF]

open access: yesRomanian Journal of Regional Science
This research explores how the one-size-fits-all government-led counter-cyclical policy response to societal disruptions, in this case COVID-19, produces distributed fiscal autonomy outcomes across local governments.

Signed Scale Measures: An Introduction and Application

open access: yes, 2002
The role of the Interquartile Range in constructing a Boxplot provides the rationale for considering the halves of the "box" in a Boxplot. The two halves of the boxplot are viewed as measures of distance from a measure of location.

Gleason-type theorems for signed measures on orthomodular posets of projections on linear spaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
We consider some orthomodular posets which are not lattices and the Gleason-type theorems for signed measures on them.
