“The Island of Thieves”: Rethinking Empire and the United States in Micronesia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This piece examines empire by purchase and lease in the Pacific and the manner by which the United States gained control over a series of strategically valuable islands in the region.

Translated identities: 'Pakeha' as subjects of the Treaty of Waitangi [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The politics of translation is clearly a perennial focus of debate in New Zealand, as shown by thematic links between the New Zealand social anthropology conferences at Waikato in 1990 and Auckland in 2004.

Total Roman domination on the digraphs

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2023
Let D = ( V , A ) D=\left(V,A) be a simple digraph with vertex set V V , arc set A A , and no isolated vertex. A total Roman dominating function (TRDF) of D D is a function h : V → { 0 , 1 , 2 } h:V\to \left\{0,1,2\right\} , which satisfies that each ...

Slavery and identity in Mozarabic Toledo : 1201-1320 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
L'ocupació musulmana de Toledo va significar la coexistencia, en aquesta ciutat, de col·lectius que professaven religions diferents i entre els quals la tensió era freqüent: mossàrabs, jueus, castellans i colons francesos es convertiren en els grups ...

Mapping Nanoscale Buckling in Atomically Thin Cr2Ge2Te6

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Atomic‐resolution STEM is used to resolve nanoscale buckling in monolayer Cr2Ge2Te₆. A noise‐robust image analysis reconstructs three‐dimensional lattice distortions from single plan‐view images, revealing pronounced defect‐driven nm‐scale out‐of‐plane buckling.

The Floor‐Ceiling‐Chip, or 2 × 2D = Pseudo‐3D—Approaching 3D Cell Morphology and Organization between Two Opposing 2D Substrates with Cell‐Adhesive Protein Micropatterns

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Here, we present a novel 3D cell patterning and culture platform. The “Floor‐Ceiling‐Chip” (FC‐Chip) consists of two opposing track‐etched membranes, creating a pseudo‐3D microenvironment for the cells in between. By providing the membranes with micropatterned cell‐adhesive islands of varying geometries and sizes, the FC‐Chip enables control over cell ...

Bounds on the Total Double Roman Domination Number of Graphs

open access: yesDiscussiones Mathematicae Graph Theory, 2021
Let G be a simple graph with no isolated vertex and let γtdR(G) be the total double Roman domination number of G. In this paper, we present lower and upper bounds on γtdR (G) of a graph G in terms of the order, open packing number and the numbers of ...

Challenges of integration and globalization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
There has been plenty of books and articles written about integration and globalisation, especially in English. However, these processes are characterised as being extremely dynamic.
