Enhancing Sensitivity across Scales with Highly Sensitive Hall Effect‐Based Auxetic Tactile Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
Herein, a tactile sensor based on hall‐effect sensors with an auxetic structure, called Hall effect‐based auxetic tactile sensor (HEATS), is proposed. The change in magnetism resulting from the deformation of the auxetic structure is utilized for sensing.

Synthesis of Ladder and Flexible Polysulfonimides Directly From Anionic Monomers: Investigating Structure–Property Convergence in Succinonitrile–Polymer Electrolyte Blends

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Direct synthesis of sulfonimide‐based polymers of intrinsic microporosity enables comparison with compositionally similar flexible analogs. Incorporation of a common pore‐filling transport medium drives these fundamentally different polymer architectures toward similar bulk conductivity and mechanical properties while revealing distinct microscopic ion‐

A Compact, High‐Performance, and Deformation‐Resilient Trielectrode Electrostatic Soft Pump for Soft Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
Existing soft pumps often require tradeoffs between performance and compatibility with soft robotic systems. The proposed trielectrode electrostatic soft pump addresses these limitations through an innovative driving mechanism. Its design, which includes a trielectrode configuration and the use of compliant materials, improves operational efficiency ...

Double Helix Structure for Stable Flexural Actuation in Soft Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work introduces a double‐helical architecture for soft robotic actuators that enhances twisting resistance, increases output force, and minimizes undesired deformation. Actuators driven by shape‐memory alloy wires exhibit a roughly fivefold higher torsional/flexural stiffness ratio and 50% greater force output.

Speaker attitude and demonstrative choice in Ncane (Beboid)

open access: yesStudies in African Linguistics, 2018
Ncane is an underdocumented Bantoid language, which offers speakers multiple choices for referring to aforementioned participants. Anaphoric reference is usually made through a noun and an accompanying anaphoric demonstrative.

Lab‐Scale Fabrication Process Selection for Soft Robotics: Benchmarking, Tradeoffs, and Guidelines for Formative Manufacturing of Soft Silicone Components

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Fabrication shapes soft robot performance, but benchmarking data and selection guidelines remain scarce. We fabricate silicone actuators using two molding techniques and three mold types, characterizing them with cycle testing, microscopy, profilometry, and 3D imaging. Applying our lab‐scale, soft robotics‐specific fabrication evaluation criteria shows

HeaTrace: A Parametric Design‐to‐Fabrication Workflow for Thermally Programmable Soft Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A programmable thermal actuation workflow enables soft robots to be designed and fabricated with embedded heaters that drive multiple responses. By combining performance‐driven heater design with multimaterial fabrication, the system supports thermally triggered shape change, stiffness tuning, and thermochromic visual response, as demonstrated through ...

A Strong Correlation between Serum soluble IL-2 Receptor (sIL-2R) and Atypical Lymphocytosis

open access: yes, 2014
Activated lymphocytes morphologically change into large aberrant cells known as atypical lymphocytes (atyLy). AtyLy are seen in various non-neoplastic conditions such as viral infection of Epstein-Barr virus, cytomegalovirus and hepatitis viruses.
