Studied locality is situated in western part of the Silesian Unit of the Outer Western Carpathians. In an abandoned monchiquite quarry at Žilina village near Nový Jičín NW–SE -trending calcite veinlet containing ferrierite-Mg has been found.

In Moravian-Silesian museums in the Czech Republic, Vienna Museum of Natural History and Bayerische Staatssammlung für Paläontologie un historische Geologie of the University in Munich, ammonites collected previously in the Štramberk Limestone are deposited. A common feature of all of these older collections is that the finds miss precise localization.

A new stand of Red Stinkhorn Mutinus ravenelii (Phallaceae) in the Silesian Upland
In July 2014, a new stand of rare alien fungus Mutinus ravenelii (Phallaceae) was recorded in Bolesław village in the Silesian Upland in southern Poland (coordinates: 50°17’29,2’’N/19°29’25,9’’E; the ATPOL cartogram unit: DF46).

The genus Praesphaerammina Kaminski and Filipcscu is newly described based on a revision of the type species Cystammina subgaleata Vasicek 1947. The genus differs from the Holocene genus Sphaerammina Cushman 1910 emend.
