Fractal dimensions of silica gels generated using reactive molecular dynamics simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We have used molecular dynamics simulations based on a three-body potential with charge transfer to generate nanoporous silica aerogels. Care was taken to reproduce the sol-gel condensation reaction that forms the gel backbone as realistically as ...

Parallel 3D Bioprinting on SLIPS‐Microarrays

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces the first truly parallel 3D bioprinting method, enabling both the simultaneous fabrication of hundreds of cell laden hydrogel 3D structures and their HTS in individual liquid compartments. By integrating Digital Light Processing (DLP) stereolithography with functional micropatterns, the platform decouples printing time from array ...

Functionalization of Carbon and Silica Gel by Phosphoric Acid

open access: yesAdsorption Science & Technology, 2007
Functionalization of polymer-based carbon (SCS-3) and silica gel (SG60) by phosphoric acid at 800°C was investigated. It was shown that heat treatment of carbon and silica gel in the presence of phosphoric acid at 800°C provides a way of functionalizing ...

Growing single crystals in silica gel [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Two types of chemical reactions for crystal growing are discussed. The first is a metathetical reaction to produce calcium tartrate tetrahydrate crystals, the second is a decomplexation reaction to produce cuprous chloride ...

Synthesis of Organofunctionalized Silica Gel from Organostannylated Silica Gel and Chlorosilane

open access: yesJournal of the Ceramic Society of Japan, 1998
Tri- and dibutylstannylated silica gels were prepared from water glass and tri- and dibutyltinoxide, respectively. Organofunctionalized silica gels were readily formed via reaction between the tri- and dibutylstannylated silica gels and acetoxyethyldimethylchlorosilane or acetoxyethylmethyl-dichlorosilane with the elimination of organotin groups.

Synthesis of Organofunctionalized Silica Gel from Organostannio Silica Gel and Alkoxysilane.

open access: yesNIPPON KAGAKU KAISHI, 1997
Organofunctionalized silica gel was readily prepared from the organostannio silica gel, which had dib utyl or tributylstannio group, and (3-methacryloxypropyl) trimethoxysilane. The reaction in the presence of acid or base catalyst proceeded with the elimination of organotin group to produce the silica gel having a high content of the organofunctional ...
