Enhanced Channel Mobility at Sub-nm EOT by Integration of a TmSiO Interfacial Layer in HfO2/TiN High-k/Metal Gate MOSFETs

open access: yesIEEE Journal of the Electron Devices Society, 2015
Integration of a high-k interfacial layer (IL) is considered the leading technological solution to extend the scalability of Hf-based high-k/metal gate CMOS technology.

A complete census of silicate features in the mid-infrared spectra of active galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present a comprehensive study of the silicate features at 9.7 and 18 micron of a sample of almost 800 active galactic nuclei (AGN) with available spectra from the Spitzer InfraRed Spectrograph (IRS).

Origin and consequences of silicate glass passivation by surface layers

open access: yesNature Communications, 2015
Silicate glasses are durable materials, but are they sufficiently durable to confine highly radioactive wastes for hundreds of thousands years? Addressing this question requires a thorough understanding of the mechanisms underpinning aqueous corrosion of

Si Inhibited Osteoclastogenesis: The Role of Fe and the Fenton Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Silicate (Si) inhibition of osteoclastogenesis, is mediated by Fe. Si chemical interactions with Fe inhibit the Fenton reaction and intercellular ROS availability. This reduction in ROS availability inhibits osteoclastogenesis. The addition of Fe, in Si‐inhibited osteoclast cultures, restores the Fenton reaction, and osteoclastogenesis.

Effects of ionization on silicate glasses. [Silicate glasses] [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
This evaluation of radiation effects in silicate glasses caused by ionization is based on our own investigations, on material collected in our files (reports, articles, and notes), and on a computer literature search through recent issues of Physics Abstracts and Chemical Abstracts (and the apparently pertinent references which appeared).

ROS‐Scavenging Multifunctional Microneedle Patch Facilitating Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging and immunomodulatory microneedle patch based on hyaluronic acid methacrylate (HaMA) and Flightless I (Flii)‐siRNA‐laden arginine functionalized poly (β‐amino ester)/alginate particles is developed for chronic wound healing applications.

AGN Dusty Tori as a Clumpy Two-Phase Medium: The 10 Micron Silicate Feature

open access: yes, 2011
We investigated the emission of active galactic nuclei dusty tori in the infrared domain, with a focus on the 10 micron silicate feature. We modeled the dusty torus as a clumpy two-phase medium with high-density clumps and a low-density medium filling ...

An Innovative “Tooth‐On‐Chip” Microfluidic Device Emulating the Structure and Physiology of the Dental Pulp Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a “tooth‐on‐chip” device that mimics dental pulp tissue. By co‐culturing key cell types, it recreates vascular networks, stem cell niches, the odontoblast/dentine interface, and trigeminal innervation. This innovative platform provides a unique model of dental pulp structure and physiology, with significant potential for accelerating

Novel 3D‐Printed Biophotonic Scaffold Displaying Luminescence under Near‐Infrared Light for Photopharmacological Activation and Biological Signaling Compound Release

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Despite significant efforts in developing novel biomaterials to regenerate tissue, only a few of them have successfully reached clinical use. It has become clear that the next generation of biomaterials must be multifunctional. Smart biomaterials can respond to environmental or external stimuli, interact in a spatial‐temporal manner, and trigger ...
