The S content of silicate melts at sulfide saturation: New experiments and a model incorporating the effects of sulfide composition

open access: yes, 2017
The extent to which sulfur dissolves in silicate melts saturated in an immiscible sulfide phase is a fundamental question in igneous petrology and plays a primary role in the generation of magmatic ore deposits, volcanic degassing, and planetary ...

The Effect of Alkali Concentration and Sodium Silicate Modulus on the Properties of Alkali-Activated Slag Concrete

open access: yesJournal of advanced concrete technology, 2018
In this study, the effect of alkali concentration and sodium silicate modulus of the activator solution on workability, compressive strength, and drying shrinkage of alkali-activated slag (AAS) concrete was investigated experimentally.

Organically Modified Silicates (Ormosils) as Adhesives for Siliceous Surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Adhesion, 1987
Abstract Adhesion to glass surfaces still may be a problem under “heavy duty” conditions such as temperature and moisture or both. In many cases the problem may be overcome by use of adhesion promoters such as reactive silanes. These silanes remove water films from the glass surface by chemical reaction, are able to form chemical bonds to the glass ...

Silicate-break galaxies: an efficient selection method of distant ultraluminous infrared galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesMon.Not.Roy.Astron.Soc. 357 (2005) 165-173, 2004
We present a photometric selection method for ULIRGs in the redshift range of z=1 -- 2. We utilize the most prominent spectral feature of ULIRGs, i.e. the silicate absorption feature at 9.7 micron and an optimized filter system at mid-infrared wavelengths. These `silicate-break' galaxies could be selected by using colour anomalies owing to the silicate

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.
