Incorporation of Coconut Fibers Into Clay‐Based Mortars: A Study on Mechanical and Microscopic Behavior

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ceramic Engineering &Science, Volume 8, Issue 2, March 2026.
Clay‐based mortar reinforced with coconut fibers showed improved flexural strength and promising mechanical performance, despite shrinkage‐induced cracks. The study highlights the potential of using waste and natural fibers in eco‐efficient mortars, emphasizing the importance of curing and moisture control.

Differentiating hyperpycnal, hypopycnal and turbidity current deposits in late Quaternary glaciogenic mud

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 1, February 2026.
X‐ray CT and microscopic analysis of glaciogenic mud provide insight into the deposits of sediment‐laden density flows and reveal that strata comprise two microtextural motifs. The deposits of bottom‐hugging hyperpycnal flows and slope‐failure‐related turbidity currents are characterised by laterally continuous, sharply bounded silt‐rich and clay‐rich ...

Investigation of formation mechanism of tufa deposits by chemical breakdown of legacy paper mill sludge

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 1, February 2026.
This study reveals that legacy paper mill sludge can generate tufa deposits through calcium leaching and atmospheric CO2 interaction, acting as a carbon sink. The findings highlight its potential for low‐cost carbon sequestration and sustainable waste management.
