Masers: Precision probes of molecular gas [PDF]
International audienceMaser emission from water, methanol, silicon monoxide and other molecules can reach brightness temperatures K. Such observations can achieve sub-pc precision for discs around black holes or sub-au scale interactions in protostellar

A Survey of SiO J = 1 – 0 emission toward massive star-forming regions [PDF]
Aims. The application of silicon monoxide (SiO) as a shock tracer arises from its propensity to occur in the gas phase as a result of shock-induced phenomena, including outflow activity and interactions between molecular clouds and expanding Hii regions ...

Is there a maser in the silicon monoxide ground state
Observations are reported of weak emission from the ground vibrational state of SiO in the Orion molecular cloud. It is shown that this emission has a rather smooth low-intensity profile extending over a large velocity range and is present at velocities where maser emissions from the first and second vibrational states are absent.

The Astrometric Animation of Water Masers towards the Mira Variable BX Cam
We report VLBI monitoring observations of the 22 GHz water (H$_{2}$O) masers around the Mira variable BX Cam, which were carried out as a part of the EAVN Synthesis of Stellar Maser Animations (ESTEMA) project.

Correlation between SiO v = 3 J = 1 → 0 maser excitation and the light curve of a long-period variable star [PDF]
In order to understand the excitation mechanisms of silicon monoxide (SiO) masers around long-period variables (LPVs), we have investigated distributions of the SiO v = 2 and v = 3 J = 1 → 0 masers around 12 LPVs by very long baseline interferometry ...

We show how the intensity and spatial distribution of silicon monoxide masers varies with time according to the parameters of a current model. The variation of the masers at 43 GHz in the v=1 vibrational state is presented as an animation. Where possible,

Studying stars that are located off the Galactic plane is important for understanding the formation history of the Milky Way. We searched for SiO masers toward off-plane O-rich asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars from the catalog presented by Mauron et ...
