Silicon Photomultiplier response model

2009 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium Conference Record (NSS/MIC), 2009
The response of a Silicon Photomultiplier (SiPM) is affected by afterpulsing, crosstalk, and saturation. Existing models for the SiPM response do not account for all of these effects and, therefore, these models are not sufficiently accurate for many applications.

Potentialities of silicon photomultiplier

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
The Silicon Photomultiplier (SiPM) is a novel pixelated photon detector able to detect single photon arrival with good timing resolution and high gain. In this work we present a complete study of the performances of different SiPMs produced by STMicroelectronics.

Interpolating silicon photomultipliers

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2013
Abstract We present the novel Interpolating Silicon PhotoMultiplier (ISiPM) concept which provides the spatial position of photon clusters with high resolution. Individual APD cells of the ISiPM area are not connected to a common readout electrode, but each cell is connected to one of several output channels. The most straight forward embodiment is a

Simulation of Silicon Photomultiplier Signals

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 2009
In a silicon photomultiplier (SiPM), also referred to as multi-pixel photon counter (MPPC), many Geiger-mode avalanche photodiodes (GM-APDs) are connected in parallel so as to combine the photon counting capabilities of each of these so-called microcells into a proportional light sensor. The discharge of a single microcell is relatively well understood

Silicon photomultipliers in calorimetric applications

Astroparticle, Particle and Space Physics, Detectors and Medical Physics Applications, 2010
In recent years Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs) have been proposed as a new type of readout system for scintillating detectors in many experiments. SiPMs consist of a matrix of parallel-connected silicon micro-pixels, which are independent photon counters working in limited Geiger mode with very high gain (~106).

Novel Silicon Photomultipliers for PET Applications

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 2008
Silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs) with quantum efficiency maximized for a wavelength between 420 and 470 nm have been developed at ITC-irst Trento (Italy), and are being tested for their application in the construction of a ultra high resolution small animal PET tomograph. The devices have an area of 1 mm times 1 mm and 625 microcells.
