China silicon photomultiplier technology

2016 IEEE Photonics Conference (IPC), 2016
The group of the Huazhong University of Science and Technology developed the technology of the Silicon Photo-multiplier on the basis of standard CMOS technology, produced on the CMOS chinese facility. The performance of the SiPM is presented with detailed analysis, particularly the single photon spectrum.

Optimized silicon photomultipliers with optical trenches

2011 Proceedings of the European Solid-State Device Research Conference (ESSDERC), 2011
This paper reports on the electrical characteristics of silicon photomultipliers (SiPM) with optimized optical trench technology. The SiPM arrays were characterized from single pixels up to the full 64×64 pixel device. The data clearly show a perfect scaling of the dark current with the pixel number, thus indicating an almost ideal insulation among the

Novel Silicon Photomultipliers for PET Application

2006 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium Conference Record, 2006
Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs) with quantum efficiency maximized for a wavelength between 420 and 470 nm have been developed at ITC-irst Trento (Italy), and are being tested for their application in the construction of a ultra high resolution small animal PET tomograph. The devices have an area of 1 mm × 1 mm and 625 microcells. The breakdown voltage

Temperature-compensated silicon photomultiplier

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2018
Abstract Silicon PhotoMultipliers (SiPM) have significant temperature dependence of important parameters such as gain, photon detection efficiency and optical crosstalk. Special temperature-controlled power supplies and off-line correction are typically used to mitigate this temperature dependence, though these methods are still not optimal for ...

Silicon photomultiplier-based optoelectronic mixing

Optical Engineering, 2013
Silicon photomultiplier (SiPM)-based optoelectronic mixing (OEM) is studied for the first time. The validity of SiPM-based OEM is experimentally verified. Compared with the avalanche photodiodes-based OEM, the SiPM-based OEM is less noisy and easy to realize for its low voltage operation and high responsivity.

Silicon photomultipliers applications to biosensors

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
A novel Si-based detector, having a low noise and a high sensitivity, up to a single photon detection, was used for a biosensor application. It is a Silicon photomultiplier (SiPM), a device formed by avalanche diodes operating in Geiger mode, in parallel connections.

Silicon Photomultipliers - End of the Photomultiplier Tubes Era

LEOS 2007 - IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society Annual Meeting Conference Proceedings, 2007
The principle of silicon photomultipliers (SiPM) is discussed. The SiPM structure is based on the array of submicron semiconductor micro-cells, working in breakdown mode with integrated quenching elements and common electrode. The characteristics and the operational conditions of the SiPM is presented.

Silicon photomultiplier light response properties

2007 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium Conference Record, 2007
The presented results are obtained during the first steps taken in order to develop a setup and measurement procedures which allow to compare properties of diverse kinds of silicon photomultiplier. The response to low-intensity light was studied for silicon photomultipliers produced by MEPhI/PULSAR (Russia), CPTA (Russia), Hamamatsu (Japan), ITC-irst ...

Brachytherapy dosimeter with silicon photomultipliers

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2015
Abstract In-vivo and in-situ measurement of the radiation dose administered during brachytherapy faces several technical challenges, requiring a very compact, tissue-equivalent, linear and highly sensitive dosimeter, particularly in low-dose rate brachytherapy procedures, which use radioactive seeds with low energy and low dose deposition rate.
