Coagulative Granular Hydrogels with an Enzyme Catalyzed Fibrin Network for Endogenous Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

Ultraviolet-curable Silicone/Urethane Elastomer and Its Selective Modulus Enhancement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Department of Chemical EngineeringThermosets usually have brittle structure, but thermosetting polyurethane (PU) is classified as elastomer due to its urethane linkage in the backbone.

Effect of tulle on the mechanical properties of a maxillofacial silicone elastomer

open access: yes, 2008
PubMedID: 19241684The purpose of this research was to investigate if physical properties could be improved by incorporating a tulle reinforcement material into a maxillofacial silicone elastomer. A-2186 silicone elastomer was used in this study.

Aqueous Two‐Phase Bioinks for Discrete Packing and Compartmentalization of 3D Bioprinted Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Aqueous two‐phase systems (ATPS) enable the formation of biomimetic interfaces crucial for tissue engineering. However, clinical translation remains limited by the challenge of precisely controlling cellular compartmentalization. Here, we developed ATPS biomaterial inks for 3D bioprinting allowing tuneable droplet formation via NaCl modulation.

Research of the deformation of a thin body with a magnetizable elastomer in the magnetic field of a coil

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
Deformation of a thin cylindrical body with a magnetizable elastomer based on silicone in the magnetic field of an electromagnetic coil is investigated experimentally and theoretically. It is observed that a bistability of the thin body equilibrium shape

Design and Synthesis of Peptide‐Polyester Conjugates for Cell‐Mediated Scaffold Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work describes polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based biomaterials engineered to degrade in response to cell‐secreted proteases. A fast‐degrading peptide (Fast) sequence is integrated into a PCL conjugate backbone to produce a biomaterial that is selectively degraded by multiple cell types compared to its scrambled control (ScrFast).

The Water Uptake of Experimental Soft Lining Materials

open access: yes, 1997
PhDIn order to develop a successful soft lining material various factors have to be considered; physical strength, adhesion to the denture base ( or prosthetic) and the durability of the material's properties when in the mouth.

Magnetostriction effects in silicone elastomers

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Abstract New silicone magnetoactive elastomers have been synthesized and studied. Significant magnetostrictive effects in the synthesized composites were visualized by microscopy. The obtained results can be the basis for the design of controlled dampers and promising magnetostrictive engines of a new generation with micro and nanoscale ...

Development of a Synthetic Hydrogel to Foster Microvascularization of an Endometriosis Microphysiological System

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The ascent of novel alternative methods in drug development spotlights the dual needs for improved biological fidelity to in vivo, along with reproducibility, especially in regulatory applications. The need for pre‐clinical models of patient‐derived endometriosis lesions motivates the development of a vascularizable, completely synthetic ...

Hydrodynamic control of silicone elastomers on between porous media

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Textiles
Silicone elastomers, for example, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), have been widely used as cross-linkers for fabrication of flexible strain sensors. They not only lend strong adhesion to adjacent materials, for example, porous fabrics, but also tune their ...
