Search for Free Fractional Electric Charge Elementary Particles [PDF]
We have carried out a direct search in bulk matter for free fractional electric charge elementary particles using the largest mass single sample ever studied - about 17.4 mg of silicone oil.

The hygroexpansion and anisotropy of wood limit its application in construction and wood products industry. Zinc chloride–silicone oil was use to decrease the hygroscopicity and improve the dimensional stability of wood at 80 °C, 140 °C, 160 °C and 180 ...

Shape‐Changing Multiphase Microparticles from Complex Liquid Crystal Emulsions
Liquid crystalline network (LCN) microparticles are prepared from single, double (Janus), and triple emulsions through a simple and scalable bulk‐emulsification strategy. Under heating, the particles exhibit robust, reversible, large‐amplitude deformations that depend both on the morphology and the liquid crystals director field configuration.

Electroretinogram Changes following Silicone Oil Removal
Purpose: To evaluate electroretinogram (ERG) changes after silicone oil removal. Methods: Scotopic and photopic ERGs, and best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) were checked before and shortly after silicone oil removal in eyes that had previously ...

DNA-coated Functional Oil Droplets
Many industrial soft materials often include oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions at the core of their formulations. By using tuneable interface stabilizing agents, such emulsions can self-assemble into complex structures.

Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

Droplets on posterior surface of intraocular lens in silicone oil filled eye.
Silicone oil adherence to silicone IOLs after silicone oil removal is a known complication in pseudophakic patients. Droplet removal is difficult and may require IOL exchange.

RAFT Dispersion Polymerization in Silicone Oil
A near-monodisperse monohydroxy-terminated polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS; mean degree of polymerization = 66) was esterified using a carboxylic acid-functionalized trithiocarbonate to yield a PDMS66 precursor with a mean degree of functionality of 92 ± 5 ...

Mechanical and Electrical Phenotype of hiPSC‐Cardiomyocytes on Fibronectin‐Based Hydrogels
We introduce fibronectin‐based PEG hydrogels with controlled rigidity to enable the culture of iPSC‐derived cardiomyocytes. These substrates offer an alternative to the current culture of these cells on fibronectin‐coated glass, providing enhanced structural and functional behavior. The system provides a more physiologically relevant platform to assess
