Synthesis of Telechelic‐Type Polypeptides Functionalized with Aromatic Units and the Characterization of Their Structures and Thermal Properties

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 47, Issue 10, 19 May 2026.
Polypeptide chains were extended from both ends of aromatic diamines by chemoenzymatic polymerization, resulting in the synthesis of telechelic polyglycines (TPG) and polyalanines (TPA). These telechelic polymers assembled into branched nanofibrils through π‐π stacking of aromatic rings, with the polymer backbones bent at the aromatic unit.

Comparative Evaluation of Mechanical, Biological, and Physicochemical Properties of Biodegradable Barrier Membranes Synthesized From Polyvinyl Alcohol and Biopolymer Mucilage

open access: yesNano Select, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
The incorporation of functional additives like hydroxyapatite (HA) and GSK‐3 inhibitors onto PVA‐Chia seed mucilage improves the balance of physicochemical properties, mechanical performance, and cytocompatibility relative to PVA alone. The improved barrier has great potential as a cutting‐edge biomaterial for successful bone regeneration applications ...

Phosphate‐ and pH‐dependent self‐assembly of recombinant spider silk proteins

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract The process of molecular self‐assembly is an omnipresent mechanism in nature to generate a variety of efficient and functional hierarchical architectures, and inspires tailored material design and development. Thereby, self‐assembly is based on a controlled interplay and association of monomers into highly ordered structures triggered by ...
