Flexibility Regeneration of Silk Fibroin in Vitro [PDF]

open access: yesBiomacromolecules, 2012
Although natural silk fibers have excellent strength and flexibility, the regenerated silk materials generally become brittle in the dry state. How to reconstruct the flexibility for silk fibroin has bewildered scientists for many years. In the present study, the flexible regenerated silk fibroin films were achieved by simulating the natural forming ...

Advances and Perspectives in Graphene‐Based Quantum Dots Enabled Neuromorphic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Graphene‐based QDs are zero‐dimensional carbon nanomaterials with pronounced quantum confinement and tunable electronic structures. Herein, we summarize their synthesis strategies and functionalization methods, and highlight their functional roles and operating mechanisms in devices, as well as recent advances in neuromorphic electronics. We anticipate

CRYSTALLIZATION OF SILK FIBROIN

open access: yesSen'i Gakkaishi, 1969
A transparent solution was obtained by treating silk fibroin with dichloroacetic acid for one day at room temperature. The 1% solution gave cloudy precipitates by diluting with the same volume of water.Needle-shaped crystals could be observed under optical microscope in the precipitates dried up on a slide glass at about 60°C.The particles have sizes ...

Gelation of silk fibroin.

open access: yesSen'i Gakkaishi, 1990
Refined silk fibroin obtained from waste cocoons was dissolved in a mixture of ethanol and neutral salt (calcium chloride) solution and the solution thus obtained was centrifuged and then acidified with an organic acid after dialysis. The pH of the resulting solution was in the acid side of the isoelectric point (pl=3.8-3.9).

Multi‐Component Functionalized Bifidobacterium Longum Hydrogel for Multi‐Target Integrated Therapy of Colitis‐Associated Anxiety and Depression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A pH/MMP dual‐responsive Bifidobacterium longum (BL) hydrogel (INPs@BL@Gel) functionalized with baicalin, tyrosine, and inulin is constructed. It enables gastric protection, inflammation‐targeted release, and prolonged intestinal colonization. By remodeling gut microbiota, elevating beneficial neuroactive metabolites (homovanillic acid, short‐chain ...

Programmable Multi‐Axially Aligned Aerogels via Sequential Freeze‐Casting for Tailored Anisotropy and Tunable Mechanics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Conventional single‐gradient freeze‐casting typically produces unidirectional porous architectures with limited transverse connectivity. The Sequential Hybridization by Infiltration and Freeze‐casting Technique (SHIFT) addresses this constraint by integrating secondary aligned structures within a preformed primary scaffold.

ON THE SPHERULITES OF SILK FIBROIN

open access: yesSen'i Gakkaishi, 1968
On the formation of spherulites in silk fibroin gel obtained from fresh silk gland, the conditions for crystallization such as pH and temperature and the structure of the spherulites resulted under these conditions were examined.1. Spherulites of silk fibroin were observed at temperatures lower than 50°C and the range of pH from 3.0 to 10 except in pH ...
