Interface Engineering of Boron Nitride–Polymer Composites for High Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesInformation &Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review comprehensively discusses the impacts of interfacial design and fabrication strategies on boron nitride–polymer composites, and systematically classifies and summarizes recent advances in interfacial engineering based on the interaction modes between boron nitride fillers and polymer matrices.

Qualitative Analysis of Biogas by Raman Spectroscopy: Effect of Pressure on Major Components

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Raman spectra of major and selected minor biogas components were studied under pressures up to 100 bar. Pressure‐induced shifts and band broadening were quantified for methane, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen, while Raman spectra of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide are presented in the context of biogas quality monitoring.

Atmospheric Corrosion Protection of LPBF Manufactured AlSi10Mg by Combining SiOx‐CVD and PDMS Grafting

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
Hybrid SiOₓ‐CVD/PDMS ultrathin films mitigate atmospheric corrosion of additively manufactured AlSi10Mg. Electrochemical analyses show reduced corrosion currents, increased charge‐transfer resistance, and suppressed pitting due to diminished cathodic activity and limited oxygen and ion transport under NaCl exposure.

Exploring 2‐D σ−σ* Conjugation in Cyclic Polysiloxane Copolymers

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
We find σ−σ * conjugation in copolymers synthesized by reacting the cyclomer [vinylMeSiO]4 in a 1:1 ratio with various Br‐Ar‐Br. Further, on modifying the remaining unsubstituted viny groups with Br‐Ar’, we change the main chain photophysics. However, as a test, we also appended Br‐Ar’ groups on the cylomer alone observing σ−σ * conjugation coincident ...

Reprocessable Disulfide‐Based Vitrimers with Adhesive Properties

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
A dual‐curing strategy combining UV‐induced thiol–ene polymerization and thermal thiol–epoxy curing was used to prepare disulfide‐based vitrimer networks with reprocessable, recyclable, and adhesive properties enabled by dynamic disulfide exchange. ABSTRACT A family of disulfide (S–S) containing thiol–vinyl–epoxy dynamic networks are presented.

Basalt Fiber Surface Modification for Improved Interaction With Polyamide‐6 for High‐Performance Automotive Applications

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Amino‐silane treatment improves the basalt fiber–PA6 interface, enhancing composite performance. ABSTRACT Basalt fiber‐reinforced polymer (BFRP) composites have emerged as sustainable alternatives to glass fiber (GF) composites, but their performance is often controlled by the quality of the fiber–matrix adhesion.

Reuse of Waste Silicone Rubber as a Functional Filler in HTV Silicone Elastomers: Mechanical Integrity and Energy Dissipation Behavior

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Sustainable recycling of waste silicone rubber via mechanical grinding, particle‐size classification, and incorporation into virgin HTV silicone. ABSTRACT This study presents a sustainable approach to reusing waste silicone rubber as a functional filler in high‐temperature‐vulcanized (HTV) vinyl methyl silicone (VMQ) elastomers.

In Situ Atmospheric Plasma Treatment Enables First‐Layer Adhesion of PEEK on Borosilicate Glass for FDM‐Printed Non‐Assembly Mechanisms

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
A printhead‐mounted plasma nozzle activates the PEEK melt and the borosilicate print‐bed at the instant of contact. Only this simultaneous in‐situ activation of both interfaces yields reliable first‐layer adhesion (0.22 MPa). ABSTRACT Fused deposition modeling of poly‐ether‐ether‐ketone (PEEK) requires a high‐temperature build plate, yet PEEK does not ...

Robust β‐myrcene block copolymer elastomeric vitrimers

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
Myrcene‐based vitrimeric elastomers were compared: statistical (poly(styrene‐stat‐myrcene‐stat‐AAEMA)] versus ‘hard–soft’ diblock (poly(styrene)‐block‐poly(myrcene‐co‐AAEMA)). The diblock's ability to anchor the glassy poly(styrene) blocks in a self‐assembled microstructure was effective – leading to four times higher tensile stress and ten times ...
