Mycochemical Diversity and Therapeutic Potential of Hymenochaetoid Fungi from Central Asia: Regional and Global Perspectives

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Botany, Volume 64, Issue 1, March 2026.
Central Asia harbors a rich yet understudied assemblage of wood‐inhabiting Hymenochaetoid fungi. This review delivers the first comprehensive synthesis of 43 poroid species representing 18 genera documented across montane forests, steppes, and xeric habitats.

Carbohydrates in the sap of silver birch and its curly grained form

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 1978
Carbohydrates of the sap of six curly and four silver birches ( Sok. and Roth) were analysed by gas chromatography as trimethylsilyl derivates both from hydrolysed and unhydrolyzed samples. Sorbitol was identified from silver birch sap only.

Variation among seed sources of silver birch in Scotland [PDF]

open access: yesForestry, 2000
Summary The results of five provenance trials of silver birch (Betula pendula Roth.) in Scotland are described. These comprise: (1) two trials laid out in the 1970s and 1980s comparing improved Finnish stock with unimproved Scottish material, and (2) three recently established provenance trails of Scottish seed sources for which 1‐2 year results are ...

Indanone Building Blocks From Lignin Related C9‐Platform Molecules

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 10, 11 March 2026.
ABSTRACT Lignin‐based aryl 3‐hydroxypropanones were converted into indanones via a domino dehydration/Nazarov cyclization in the presence of a superacid. The cyclization was studied in detail, and the resulting indanones were engaged in two postfunctionalizations: a reduction/elimination domino sequence and a ring expansion. Lastly, the method has been

Seasonal variation in wild pig (Sus scrofa) diet revealed by DNA metabarcoding

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, Volume 50, Issue 1, March 2026.
Using DNA metabarcoding of fecal samples, we investigated the diet of wild pigs at an extensive bottomland hardwood forest ecosystem within Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge in Southern Arkansas. We found that wild pig diet was highly diverse and included at least 74 plant families and 106 genera and 23 species of vertebrates.

COLLECTION AND USE OF BIRCH SAP, A LESS KNOWN NON-WOOD FOREST PRODUCT IN ROMANIA [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Papers Series : Management, Economic Engineering in Agriculture and Rural Development, 2017
Silver birch (Betula pendula Roth.) is generally recognized as a useful tree species across its wide natural distribution range. In Romania, even if the presence of this species especially in mountainous and hilly regions is quite common, little is known
