Influence of a magnetic field on the aging rates of island silver films

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1990
The authors present the results of investigations carried out on the effect of magnetic field on the aging rates of island silver films deposited on glass substrates held at room temperature in a vacuum of 1*10-5 Torr. It is observed that the application of a magnetic field of strength 80 G during and after growth of the island film reduces the aging ...

Flourescent lifetimes and yields of molecules adsorbed on silver-island films

Journal of Luminescence, 1981
Abstract When molecules are absorbed on silver island films, their flourescent lifetimes are found to be shortened by about three orders of magnitude and their decay is found to be non-exponential in time. This behavior is a result of the electromagnetic interaction between the molecules and the silver islands.

Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering of Rhodamine 123 in Silver Hydrosols and in Langmuir–Blodgett Films on Silver Islands

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2001
Surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS) of the Rhodamine 123 (Rh 123) molecule on ion-induced silver colloids has been studied. A time-dependent study of the SER spectra at a particular pH confirms charge transfer interaction between the probe molecule and the metal.

Surface-Enhanced Photopolymerization of a Diacetylene Derivative in Langmuir−Blodgett Films on a Silver Island Film

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 1998
Surface-enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS) spectroscopy was applied to monitor the photopolymerization process of one monolayer (L = 1) of a Langmuir−Blodgett (LB) film of the cadmium salt of a diacetylene monocarboxylic acid derivative, 10,12-pentacosadiynoic acid (DA), prepared on an evaporated silver island film with a mass thickness of 60 ...

Surface decoration of Langmuir-Blodgett films with evaporated silver islands

Thin Solid Films, 1989
Abstract Silver was evaporated on Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of cadmium arachidate and phthalocyaninato-polysiloxane. Electron microscopy and UV-visible- near IR absorption spectroscopy show that the island formation and the sticking probability of silver depend on the thickness of the cadmium arachidate films.

Surface-enhanced second-harmonic generation in C60-coated silver island films

Physics Letters A, 1993
Abstract Surface-enhanced generation of the diffuse and depolarized optical harmonic (SH) upon reflection of laser radiation from C60-coated silver island films is observed. An order of magnitude relative enhancement of the SH response from the coated films with respect to the uncoated ones is found. The nature of the observed effects is discussed.

Infrared Absorption Enhancement of C 60 by Overlaying Thin Silver Island Films

Applied Spectroscopy, 2004
Normal-incidence infrared absorption has been observed for silver overlaid C 60 thin films formed on surface-oxidized Si(111) substrates as a function of the silver or C 60 film thickness. The absorption spectra exhibit bands at 1429 and 1180 cm

Size Effect on the Width of Plasma Resonance Absorption of Silver Island Films

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1982
The size dependence of the half width of the optical plasma resonance absorption of silver island films has been investigated at 293 K. Below a diameter of about 14 A the deviation from the classical prediction was observed. Considering the average energy level spacing and the level broadening due to scatterings, this deviation was attributed to the ...
