Phase Engineering of Atomically Precise Nanoclusters (APNCs) of Gold and Beyond

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Engineering the structural phase of materials is of paramount importance for both fundamental research and practical applications. In this Review, we summarize the recent progress in controlling the phases of atomically precise nanoclusters (APNCs) of gold, silver and copper, as well as bimetallic systems. The phase‐enabled material properties of APNCs

Conversion of Ultrasmall Glutathione-Coated Silver Nanoparticles during Dispersion in Water into Ultrasmall Silver Sulfide Nanoparticles

open access: yesNanomaterials
Ultrasmall silver nanoparticles (2 nm) were prepared by reduction with sodium borohydride (NaBH4) and stabilized by the ligand glutathione (a tripeptide: glycine–cysteine–glutamic acid).

Matrix effects on the optical response of silver nanoclusters [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2006
We report absorption spectra for Ag7, Ag9, and Ag11 in an argon matrix grown at a temperature of 28K and compare them with previous spectra of the same species measured in matrices of argon grown at lower temperatures as well as in neon matrices. We discuss the discrepancies in the light of the matrix crystallinity and show that this leads to an ...

Covalently anchoring silver nanoclusters Ag44 on modified UiO-66-NH2 with Bi2S3 nanorods and MoS2 nanoparticles for exceptional solar wastewater treatment activity

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
For the first time, covalently anchoring size selected silver nanoclusters [Ag44(MNBA)30] on the Bi2S3@UiO-66-NH2 and MoS2@UiO-66-NH2 heterojunctions were constructed as novel photocatalysts for photodegradation of methylene blue (MB) dye.

Green Synthesis of Antimicrobial Peptide-Protected Silver Nanoclusters with Regulated Antibacterial Behavior

open access: yes, 2023
The antibacterial system based on the silver element has been a very promising antibacterial material. However, the antibacterial activity of silver nanomaterials largely depends on their chemical composition and physical properties.

Atom–Cluster Synergy in Scalable Fe–Ru Dual‐Site Architectures Accelerates Alkaline Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A mechanochemically synthesized dual‐site electrocatalyst (RuNC@Fe1NC) accelerates alkaline hydrogen evolution via atomic‐level spatial decoupling. Oxophilic Fe single atoms effectively dissociate water, while adjacent Ru nanoclusters rapidly recombine hydrogen.
