Atomic and electronic structures of stable linear carbon chains on Ag-nanoparticles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
In this work, we report X-ray photoelectron (XPS) and valence band (VB) spectroscopy measurements of surfactant-free silver nanoparticles and silver/linear carbon chains (Ag@LCC) structures prepared by pulse laser ablation (PLA) in water. Our measurements demonstrate significant oxidation only on the surfaces of the silver nanoparticles with many ...

Recent Advances in Enzyme‐based Biofuel Cells Using Glucose Fuel: Achieving High Power Output and Enhanced Operational Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Effective electron transfer and stable enzyme immobilization, both between enzymes and host electrodes as well as between adjacent enzymes, are crucial for optimizing the biofuel cell (BFC) performance. Recently, efforts have focused on integrating these strategies with porous host electrodes.

Fibrous Pb(II)‐Based Coordination Polymer Operable as a Photocatalyst and Electrocatalyst for High‐Rate, Selective CO2‐to‐Formate Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A coordination polymer [Pb(tadt)]n prepared by a microwave‐assisted solvothermal method selectively reduces CO2 into formate under visible light with a high apparent quantum yield of ≈25% at 400 nm. It can function as a pre‐catalyst, along with conductive Ketjen Black, to form an active PbCO3/Pb3(CO3)2(OH)2 mixture that exhibits a high Faradaic ...

Bioresorbable and Wireless Rechargeable Implanted Na‐ion Battery for Temporary Medical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐solid‐state bioresorbable Na‐ion battery is developed, composed entirely of bio‐eliminable materials. In vivo and ex vivo tests confirmed harmless disintegration of this implanted battery. Lifetime of the implanted battery can be precisely controlled by adjusting the dissolvable encapsulation layer's thickness.
