Production of metal nanoparticles by agro-industrial wastes. A green opportunity for nanotechnology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The feasibility of producing silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) using phenolic extracts from agro-industrial wastes as reducing agents was investigated. Phenolic extracts were obtained from bilberry wastes (BW) and spent coffee grounds (SCG) with aqueous ...

Self‐supportive Three‐Way Photoelectrochemical System Achieving Uranium Recycling, Organic Oxidation, and Electricity Generation in Complex Waters

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐sustaining solar photoelectrochemical cell (SS‐PEC) is developed to recover uranium from aqueous UO22+ with concurrent organic oxidation and electricity production. The monolithical photoanode directly captures electrons from organic compounds, leading to the oxidation of organic compounds and the decomposition of uranium‐organic complexes ...

Silver nitrate ingestion: report of a case with an uneventful course and review of the literature

open access: yesClinics and Practice, 2011
Silver nitrate is commonly recognized for the toxic effects followed by the direct contact with the skin and mucosa known as argyria, but there is surprisingly little information about the adverse effects of silver nitrate after ingestion.

Enhancing Direct Solar Water Splitting via ALD of Multifunctional TiO2/Pt Nanoparticle Coatings With Engineered Interfaces to GaAs/GaInP Tandem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multifunctional atomic layer deposited coatings and interface treatments enhance direct solar water splitting on GaAs/GaInP tandem cells. Optimized TiO2/Pt nanoparticle bilayers ensure durability and catalytic efficiency with minimal optical losses, while H2 plasma pretreatments maximize photovoltage and interfacial charge extraction.

Non Thermal‐Driven Photocatalytic Ammonia Decomposition at Near‐Room Temperature on a Plasmonic Nanocone Array

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Plasmonic photocatalytic ammonia decomposition occurs at near‐room temperature on a plasmonic Au nanocone array under visible light illumination. The nanostructure efficiently harnesses plasmonic modes, leading to increased reaction rates upon plasmon decay.

Poly[(μ-2,3-diethyl-7,8-dimethylquinoxaline-κ2N:N)(2,3-diethyl-7,8-dimethylquinoxaline-κN)-μ-nitrato-κ2O:O′-nitrato-κ2O,O′-disilver(I)]

open access: yesIUCrData
The structure of the title compound, [C14H18N2)2Ag2](NO3)2, contains subtle differences in ligand, metal, and counter-anion coordination. One quinoxaline ligand uses one of its quinoxaline N atoms to bond to one silver cation. That silver cation is bound

Ion-selective carbon-paste electrodes for halides and silver(I) ions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
The behaviour of a simple type of ion-selective electrode for halogens and silver has been studied. The electrode consists of a plastic body filled with carbon paste, the surface of which can be easily renewed.
