Silver(I) nitrate complexes of three tetrakis-thioether-substituted pyrazine ligands: metal–organic chain, network and framework structures

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2017
The reaction of the ligand 2,3,5,6-tetrakis[(methylsulfanyl)methyl]pyrazine (L1) with silver(I) nitrate led to {[Ag(C12H20N2S4)](NO3)}n, (I), catena-poly[[silver(I)-μ-2,3,5,6-tetrakis[(methylsulfanyl)methyl]pyrazine] nitrate], a compound with a metal ...

An unusual complication of silver nitrate therapy for chyluria

open access: yesIndian Journal of Urology, 2007
Chyluria is a common disorder in the tropics. In our country it is most commonly managed by instillation of silver nitrate. We report a patient who developed severe perinephric hematoma due to pseudoaneurysm of renal artery following silver nitrate ...

Recycling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys: Fundamental and Technological Aspects of a Vacuum Induction Melting Processing Route

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

High‐Resolution Corrosion Fingerprinting of Alloy Libraries via Microdroplet Spectroelectrochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic‐liquid microdroplet spectroelectrochemistry enables stable, localized electrochemical measurements over extended timescales. By coupling impedance spectroscopy, wetting analysis, finite‐element simulations, and operando Raman spectroscopy, it disentangles geometrical and electrochemical effects, opening new opportunities for rapid corrosion ...

Impact of MgO Additions on the Oxidation Resistance and Compression Behavior of Vanadium Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An increase in oxidation resistance at 600 °C is achieved for alloys containing more than 2.5 wt.% MgO. It has been established that, along with V2O5, MgO6V2, and Mg2O7V2 are formed, which are presumed to enhance oxidative stability. Furthermore, the possible transformation of Mg‐vanadates through reaction with CO2, which presumably occurs in this ...

Activity of Silver Nitrate for Treatment of Amoebic Keratitis [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology
Silver nitrate is an inorganic salt that is active against a wide range of microorganisms, mainly bacteria and fungi. The emergence of antibiotics and new medications led to the abandonment of silver nitrate by modern medicine, however microbial ...
