Elucidating Continental-Wide Phylogeographic and Adaptive Processes Shaping the Genome-Wide Diversity of North America's Most Widely Distributed Tree. [PDF]

open access: yesMol Ecol
ABSTRACT Past population dynamics during the Pleistocene ice age and the Holocene era have profoundly influenced the genetic structure and diversity of species. Environmental heterogeneity has further shaped local and regional adaptive variation. Here, we ask how historical processes have led to the current genetic diversity of a key North American ...

Nanohaloarchaea as beneficiaries of xylan degradation by haloarchaea

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 16, Issue 9, Page 1803-1822, September 2023., 2023
Using samples of natural evaporitic brines and anthropogenic solar salterns, we describe genome‐inferred trophic relations in two extremely halophilic xylan‐degrading three‐member consortia. We succeeded in genome assembly and closure for all members of both xylan‐degrading cultures and elucidated the respective food chains within these consortia.

Coping with environmental constraints: Geographically divergent adaptive evolution and germination plasticity in the transcontinental Populus tremuloides

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 4, Issue 6, Page 638-654, November 2022., 2022
Syntheses clearly show that global warming is affecting ecosystems and biodiversity around the world. New methods and measures are needed to predict the climate resilience of plant species critical to ecosystem stability, to improve ecological management and to support habitat restoration and human well‐being.

Complementarity increases production in genetic mixture of loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) throughout planted range

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 11, Issue 11, November 2020., 2020
Abstract Increased genotypic diversity has been associated with increased biomass production in short‐rotation tree species. Increasing the genotypic diversity of loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) in an attempt to increase productivity has not been extensively studied nor tested operationally or over long durations (i.e., >7 yr). We used genetically mixed

Dynamics of the Pacific oyster pathobiota during mortality episodes in Europe assessed by 16S rRNA gene profiling and a new target enrichment next‐generation sequencing strategy

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 21, Issue 12, Page 4548-4562, December 2019., 2019
Summary Infectious agents such as the bacteria Vibrio aestuarianus or Ostreid herpesvirus 1 have been repeatedly associated with dramatic disease outbreaks of Crassostrea gigas beds in Europe. Beside roles played by these pathogens, microbial infections in C.

Differential Methylation of Genomic Regions Associated with Heteroblasty Detected by M&M Algorithm in the Nonmodel Species Eucalyptus globulus Labill.

open access: yesInternational Journal of Genomics, Volume 2016, Issue 1, 2016., 2016
Epigenetic regulation plays important biological roles in plants, including timing of flowering and endosperm development. Little is known about the mechanisms controlling heterochrony (the change in the timing or rate of developmental events during ontogeny) in Eucalyptus globulus.

JUVENILE-MATURE GENETIC CORRELATIONS IN Pinus taeda CLONES PROPAGATED VIA SOMATIC EMBRYOGENESIS

open access: yesRevista Árvore, 2016
This study aimed to estimate the genetic correlation among selection ages (juvenile - adult) and efficiency of early selection for the height, diameter, and volume traits of individuals from Pinus taeda families propagated via somatic embryogenesis. This

SAZONALIDADE E SOLUÇÕES NUTRITIVAS NA MINIESTAQUIA DE Araucaria angustifolia (Bertol.) Kuntze
