Designing silvopastoral systems: a simulation model approach
Abstract Silvopastoral systems (SPS) can be analyzed as the differential evolution of forage, forest biomass, and livestock production that takes place under the canopy, in a temporal trajectory. SPS integrate cycles such as annual forage production, cattle fattening and medium to long-term forest development.

Productive sustainability in a silvopastoral system
The objective was to analyze the productive and economic sustainability of the silvopastoral system, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The system had been implanted five years earlier, using Eucalyptus sp. (GG100), arranged in stands with three rows in an East/West direction, 20 meters apart, with 1.2 meters between plants and 1.5 meters between rows.

Silvopastoralism in Turkey's Mountainous Mediterranean Region
Abstract Grasslands and forests are degraded in Turkey's Mediterranean Region (TMR), the center of the widespread traditional Yoruk silvopastoral system. Government efforts to halt degradation focus on afforestation, a policy that reduces the amount of land available to the Yoruks for their traditional livelihood system, which is further endangered by ...

Soil Carbon in Agroforestry Systems: An Unexplored Treasure? [PDF]
Soil organic matter (SOM), which contains more reactive organic carbon (C) than any other single terrestrial pool, plays a major role in determining C storage in ecosystems and regulating atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2)^1 ...

Agroforestry systems favor bat conservation but only when old and grazed
As a consequence of agricultural intensification and landscape homogenization, semi-natural elements such as hedges, woodland patches and scattered trees have been removed from many agricultural areas. The resulting habitat loss has led to the decline in
