open access: yesScientia Agropecuaria, 2021
El presente trabajo muestra la aplicación de una técnica no destructiva como método para la identificación de defectos internos en árboles de marupa (Simarouba amara Aubl.) ubicados en plantaciones forestales en la región Ucayali.

Gaia: Complex systems prediction for time to adapt to climate shocks

open access: yesVadose Zone Journal, Volume 24, Issue 3, May/June 2025.
Abstract Earth's climate has undergone significant fluctuations in the geologic past, while the sun's radiation continues to increase, yet has always returned to conditions highly favorable to life. Thus, the biosphere overall appears able to cancel effects of external trends as well as provide negative feedback to internal fluctuations.

Fungal community dissimilarity predicts plant–soil feedback strength in a lowland tropical forest

open access: yesEcology, Volume 105, Issue 1, January 2024.
Abstract Soil microbes impact plant community structure and diversity through plant–soil feedbacks. However, linking the relative abundance of plant pathogens and mutualists to differential plant recruitment remains challenging. Here, we tested for microbial mediation of pairwise feedback using a reciprocal transplant experiment in a lowland tropical ...

Assessment of biochemical and physiological tolerance mechanism of the multipurpose paradise tree (Simarouba amara Aubl.) under zinc and copper stress

open access: yesJournal of Applied and Natural Science, 2022
Simarouba amara Aubl., commonly known as paradise tree, is a multipurpose, evergreen, poly-gamodioecious, and oil yielding tree. The plant is famous for its seeds containing 55-65% oil, a potent source of biodiesel production and is being utilized in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and other industries.

The isolation and structure of 13,18-dehydroglaucarubinone, a new antineoplastic quassinoid fromSimarouba amara

open access: yesExperientia, 1978
An investigation of the Guyana plant Simarouba amara Aubl. (Simaroubaceae) for antineoplastic quassinoids led to isolation and structural determination of the new quassinoids 2'-acetylglaucarubine (1a) and 13,18-dehydroglaucarubinone (2). The previously known 2'-acetylglaucarubinone (3a) and glaucarubinone (3b) were also obtained.

Spatial genetic structure of Simarouba amara Aubl. (Simaroubaceae), a dioecious, animal-dispersed Neotropical tree, on Barro Colorado Island, Panama [PDF]

open access: yesHeredity, 2005
Simarouba amara (Simaroubaceae) is a vertebrate-dispersed, insect-pollinated Neotropical tree found in lowland moist forest from upper Mesoamerica to the Amazon basin. We assessed the spatial genetic structure of S. amara within the 50-ha Forest Dynamics Plot on Barro Colorado Island in the Republic of Panama.

RESISTÊNCIA AO INTEMPERISMO ARTIFICIAL DE QUATRO MADEIRAS TROPICAIS: O EFEITO DOS EXTRATIVOS

open access: yesCiência Florestal, 2009
The tropical woods Apuleia leiocarpa, Couratari stellata, Mezilaurus itauba and Simarouba amara were selected to examine the effect of the presence of the extractives in the color variation and in the photodecomposition process of their surfaces. Samples
