Home Range, Diet, and Activity Patterns of Common Marmosets (Callithrix jacchus) in Very Small and Isolated Fragments of the Atlantic Forest of Northeastern Brazil

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ecology, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
We evaluate the impact of very small and isolated forest fragments on the common marmosets home range, diet, and activity patterns, in the northeastern Atlantic Forest of Brazil. Three groups were studied in three forest fragments, from January to October 2010, totaling 360 hours of observations and 1,080 field‐hours.

Morphophysiological Behavior and Cambial Activity in Seedlings of Two Amazonian Tree Species under Shade

open access: yesJournal of Botany, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
Variations in light intensity can lead to important anatomical and morphophysiological changes in plants. Aiming to increase knowledge about the Amazonian tree species, this study examines the influence of shade on the cambial activity and development of Parkia gigantocarpa Ducke and Schizolobium parahyba var.

Gaia: Complex systems prediction for time to adapt to climate shocks

open access: yesVadose Zone Journal, Volume 24, Issue 3, May/June 2025.
Abstract Earth's climate has undergone significant fluctuations in the geologic past, while the sun's radiation continues to increase, yet has always returned to conditions highly favorable to life. Thus, the biosphere overall appears able to cancel effects of external trends as well as provide negative feedback to internal fluctuations.

Fungal community dissimilarity predicts plant–soil feedback strength in a lowland tropical forest

open access: yesEcology, Volume 105, Issue 1, January 2024.
Abstract Soil microbes impact plant community structure and diversity through plant–soil feedbacks. However, linking the relative abundance of plant pathogens and mutualists to differential plant recruitment remains challenging. Here, we tested for microbial mediation of pairwise feedback using a reciprocal transplant experiment in a lowland tropical ...
