TiO2 nanotubes supported Cu nanoparticles for improving photocatalytic degradation of simazine under UV illumination [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Nano size Copper (Cu) incorporated TiO2 nanotubes was successfully synthesized via the anodic oxidation technique in ethylene glycol (EG) containing 0.5 wt % NH4F and 1.6 wt % KOH for the photocatalytic degradation of Simazine (2-chloro-4, 6-diethylamino-

Reaction of redroot pigwed (Amaranthus retroflexus L.) plants to simazine

open access: yesActa Agrobotanica, 2013
Simazine at the doses of 5 and 10 kg ha-1 a.i. caused a significant increase in the fresh matter and non significant increase in the height of Amaranthus retroflexus L. seedlings when compared with untreated plants.

The Effects of Simazine and Temperature on Photosynthesis in Rye [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1970
Temperature during growth had a strong influence on light-saturated rates of photosynthesis and respiration in rye (Secale cereale). Carbon dioxide uptake was depressed at the low temperatures and reached maximal values higher than 30 milligrams of carbon dioxide per square decimeter per hour at the intermediate temperatures.

Effects of Temperature on Seed Germination of Plantago lanceolata and Management in Carya illinoinensis Production

open access: yesPlants, 2019
Plantago lanceolata L. (buckhorn plantain) is an encroaching winter weed described as one of the most successful noncultivated colonizing species around the world. Control of P. lanceolata in southeastern USA Carya illinoinensis (Wangenh.) K.

Pesticide runoff from conventional tillage, minimum tillage, and no-tillage cropping systems: Meta-analysis of published North American data. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Environ Qual
Abstract Pesticide applications may soon be regulated by laws predicated on the presupposition that reducing tillage, and thereby increasing soil surface crop residue cover, decreases sorbed and soluble agrochemical losses in surface runoff and erosion.

Dichloroaniline retention by nanofiltration membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This study evaluates the performance of two nanofiltration membranes in removing a herbicide: dichloroaniline. The membranes, one polyamide and one cellulose acetate, have a cut-off in the range 150–300 g/mol (manufacturers’ data). The experiments were

Thirty years of glyphosate‐resistant crops and weeds: Current situation and future prospects

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Since 1996, when the first glyphosate‐resistant crop was commercialized and the first resistant weed was reported, resistance has expanded globally. This review analyzes emergence patterns across weed species, crops, regions, resistance mechanisms, and herbicides.

Influence of simazine on nitrate uptake and nitrate reductase activity in Triticum aestivum (L.) and Cucumis sativus (L.) seedlings

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2014
The influence of simazine (2-chloro-4,6-bis(ethylamine)-1,3,5-triazine) on N03- uptake and nitrate reductase (NR) activity in wheat (Triticum aestivum) and cucumber (Cucumis sativus) seedlings was investigated.

Oxidative Damage, Energy Imbalance, and Behavioral Disruptions in Girardia tigrina Exposed to Treated Sewage Effluents

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study assessed the ecotoxicological effects of treated sewage on the freshwater planarian Girardia tigrina, integrating biochemical, energetic, and behavioral biomarkers. Planarians were exposed for 48 h to different concentrations of treated sewage (12.5%, 25%, 50%, and 100%) and compared to controls using commercial water and water from
