Optimization-derived blood input function using a kernel method and its evaluation with total-body PET for brain parametric imaging

open access: yesNeuroImage
Dynamic PET allows quantification of physiological parameters through tracer kinetic modeling. For dynamic imaging of brain or head and neck cancer on conventional PET scanners with a short axial field of view, the image-derived input function (ID-IF ...

Lewis‐Acidic Properties and Catalytic Behavior of Hydroboration‐ and Diolysis‐Derived NHC‐Stabilized Borenium Cations

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A series of thirteen (N‐heterocyclic carbene) NHC‐stabilized borenium cations is synthesized from NHC→BH3 complexes via hydroboration and condensation with diols. The novel compounds are fully characterized. Eight crystal structures are presented. Kinetic and NMR data show how the structural features translate to catalytic activity in hydrosilylation ...

Characterizing haploinsufficiency of SHELL gene to improve fruit form prediction in introgressive hybrids of oil palm

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The fundamental trait in selective breeding of oil palm (Eleais guineensis Jacq.) is the shell thickness surrounding the kernel. The monogenic shell thickness is inversely correlated to mesocarp thickness, where the crude palm oil accumulates. Commercial

Polarity on Demand: Nucleophilic, Electrophilic, and Ambiphilic Reactivity at a 9,10‐Dihydro‐9,10‐Disilaanthracene Platform

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A 9,10‐dihydro‐9,10‐disilaanthracene platform was efficiently synthesized and features intrinsically electrophilic Si sites. Upon stepwise reductive Si─H bond cleavage, these Si sites are converted into nucleophilic centers. This controlled polarity switching also enables ambiphilic reactivity within a homo‐heteroelement framework.
