Simple Root Cause Analysis by Separable Likelihoods
Root Cause Analysis for Anomalies is challenging because of the trade-off between the accuracy and its explanatory friendliness, required for industrial applications. In this paper we propose a framework for simple and friendly RCA within the Bayesian regime under certain restrictions (that Hessian at the mode is diagonal, here referred to as \emph ...

GMM Estimation of Autoregressive Roots Near Unity with Panel Data [PDF]
This paper investigates a generalized method of moments (GMM) approach to the estimation of autoregressive roots near unity with panel data. The two moment conditions studied are obtained by constructing bias corrections to the score functions under OLS ...

Why human connection is the true metric of research success
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...

One of the best-studied plant defense systems, the glucosinolate-myrosinase system of the Brassicales, is composed of thioglucosides known as glucosinolates and their hydrolytic enzymes, the myrosinases. Tissue disruption brings these components together,

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Heat controls nematodes in sweet potato roots
Studies in San Bernardino County showed that 95 to 100% of slips grown from sweet potato roots that were heavily infested with root-knot nematodes also became contaminated.

Preparing thin cross sections of Arabidopsis roots without embedding
Here, we describe a method for obtaining thin cross sections of Arabidopsis thaliana roots without fixation and embedding. Roots were grown in pinholes made in a solidified growth medium, and cross sections were prepared without pretreatment.

A parallel algorithm for simple roots of polynomials
A method for finding simple roots of arbitrary polynomials based on divided differences is discussed. Theoretical background is presented for the case of simple roots.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for
