Locating and Computing All the Simple Roots and Extrema of a Function

SIAM Journal of Scientific Computing, 1996
This paper presents and analyses two algorithms for computing all simple roots and extrema with certainty of a sufficiently differentiable scalar function. Rather than using interval arithmetic, topological degree theory and the theory of the Kronecker-Picard integral is used.

The uptake of simple phenols by barley roots

Planta, 1971
Kinetic studies of the uptake of hydroquinone-β-D-glucoside (arbutin) by excised roots of barley demonstrated that this compound is actively transported. Similar studies on the uptake of hydroquinone indicated that the latter compound enters the root tissues by diffusion.

A Simple Method for the Analysis of Root Canal Preparation

Journal of Endodontics, 2000
The purpose of this article is to present a simple and easy method for in vitro analysis of root canal instrumentation that permits one to observe and measure the diameter of a root before and after instrumentation, using the teeth themselves as control.
