Simplex and MacDonald Codes over $R_{q}$

open access: yesCoRR, 2015
In this paper, we introduce the homogeneous weight and homogeneous Gray map over the ring $R_{q}=\mathbb{F}_{2}[u_{1},u_{2},\ldots,u_{q}]/\left\langle u_{i}^{2}=0,u_{i}u_{j}=u_{j}u_{i}\right\rangle$ for $q \geq 2$. We also consider the construction of simplex and MacDonald codes of types $α$ and $β$ over this ring.

On the choice of finite element for applications in geodynamics – Part 2: A comparison of simplex and hypercube elements [PDF]

open access: yesSolid Earth
Many geodynamical models are formulated in terms of the Stokes equations that are then coupled to other equations. For the numerical solution of the Stokes equations, geodynamics codes over the past decades have used essentially every finite element that

Minimizing multimodal functions by simplex coding genetic algorithm [PDF]

open access: yesOptimization Methods and Software, 2003
Combining meta-heuristics with local search methods is one approach that recently has drawn much attentionto design more efficient methods for solving continuous global optimization problems. In this article, a newalgorithm called Simplex Coding Genetic Algorithm (SCGA) is proposed by hybridizing genetic algorithmand dmplex-based local search method ...

Surface Plasmons for Probing Optical Data of Multi- Layered Thin Films

open access: yesSultan Qaboos University Journal for Science, 2000
In this paper, we show how optical excitation of surface plasmons (SPs) can be used to obtain optical and geometrical parameters of specific layers in multi-layered thin film systems. The optimum coupling phenomenon between incoming p-polarized light and

Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.

The Host Cell Factor Phosphatase‐2A Subunit PR130 Restricts Replication of Herpes Simplex Virus Type‐1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Molecular, genetic, virological, and biochemical analysis in combination with global proteome and phosphoproteome profiling and functional assays were applied to study the role of PR130 in the context of HSV‐1 replication. The observations reveal that host‐intrinsic mechanisms regulate HSV‐1 replication and highlight PR130 as a susceptibility factor of

Topology‐Aware Deep Learning on Higher‐Order Structures for Drug Response Prediction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present TopDr, a topology‐aware deep learning framework that encodes both drugs and cell lines as multiscale simplicial complexes, capturing interactions at the 0‐, 1‐, and 2‐simplex levels. By jointly integrating local higher‐order neighborhoods and global topological structures, TopDr generates enriched representations for sensitivity prediction ...

RNA‐Binding Protein RBM25 Targets the mRNA Stability of GTPase Rab22a to Restrict Viral Entry and Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies RNA‐binding protein RBM25 as a broad‐spectrum antiviral factor acting independently of type I interferon. It blocks viral entry by suppressing GTPase Rab22a via the RC3H1‐mediated destabilization of Rab22a mRNA. Viral downregulation of RBM25 enhances GTPase Rab22a expression and viral entry, revealing an unreported post ...
