Ripple‐Free Input Current Quadratic Converter Based on Watkin–Johnson Topology

open access: yesIET Power Electronics, Volume 18, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This article proposes a power electronics converter capable of providing high voltage gain while keeping a high‐quality input current ripple. The technique for achieving the zero input current ripple at a selected duty cycle consists of extracting two inductor currents from the source in a counter‐phase manner.

Modelling of BLDCM with a double 3-phase stator winding and back EMF harmonics

open access: yesArchives of Electrical Engineering, 2015
In this paper the mathematical model of the brushless DC motor (BLDCM) with a double 3-phase stator winding is analysed. Both the 3-phase windings are mutually displaced by 30 electrical degree.

Low-Voltage Ride-Through Coordinated Control for PMSG Wind Turbines Using De-Loaded Operation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) is important for the grid integration of wind power systems (WPSs). Each grid operator defines a grid code, including the LVRT requirement, considering their power system characteristics. During grid faults, LVRT is needed

Analytical Modeling of Photovoltaic Systems Under Partial Shading Conditions Incorporating Bypass and Blocking Diodes Influence

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
This paper presents an innovative analytical model for photovoltaic (PV) systems operating under partial shading conditions (PSCs). The model is developed through a detailed analysis of the current–voltage (I–V) curves of PV systems affected by PSCs and employs a straightforward computational algorithm by adjusting every time the number of cells or ...

Inertia emulation control strategy for VSC-HVDC transmission systems

open access: yes, 2013
There is concern that the levels of inertia in power systems may decrease in the future, due to increased levels of energy being provided from renewable sources, which typically have little or no inertia.

Time domain harmonic state estimation in unbalanced power networks based on optimal number of meters and the principle of half‐wave symmetry

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2017
This study proposes a time domain methodology for harmonic state estimation (HSE) in power systems. The proposed methodology is formulated to analyse the unbalanced operation of three‐phase power systems including non‐linear loads.

Comparative Study of MPPT Optimization in Dual‐Stage PV Systems: PSO‐Integrated P&O and IC Techniques

open access: yesJournal of Control Science and Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is one of the most vital equipment of photovoltaic (PV) systems for maximum power extraction from PV systems under dynamic conditions. In this paper, we present a comparative study of hybrid MPPT algorithm that combines particle swarm optimization (PSO) along with classical perturb and observe (P&O) and ...

Utilizing Unified Power Flow Controller for Voltage Stability Improvement of the Electric Power Transmission System of Ghana

open access: yesJurnal Nasional Teknik Elektro, 2020
Interconnecting power transmission systems provide reliability of electric power supply. The security of the system is however questioned when a disturbance in any part of the interconnected system causes instability in the entire network. Unified Power

MTPA With Pseudo‐FOC Strategy–Based BLDC for Minimization of Copper Loss and Torque Ripple

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Brushless DC (BLDC) motor drives are extensively preferred in the automotive industry for their high torque‐to‐weight ratio. In conventional BLDC drives, the torque ripples are high due to 120° conduction mode operation and nonideal back EMF. To minimize the torque ripple in BLDC drives, a flux trajectory is employed based on the extension Park ...
