The development of the SIMULA languages
The first ACM SIGPLAN conference on History of programming languages - HOPL-1, 1978The organizers of this conference have told us that we should write at least 25 pages of manuscript, but that we may produce as many pages more as we wanted. Perhaps they did not envisage the possible consequences, but we have taken their words at face value. This paper has implied a vast amount of work and archeological activities.

Multiple inheritance in Simula-like languages
BIT, 1985This paper examines the subclass mechanism offered in the Simula language, and discusses how the flexibility of this mechanism would be enhanced if more than one prefix were allowed for classes (multiple inheritance). A strategy is presented for implementing this with efficiency comparable to that of current Simula.
