Using Feedback Strategies in Simulated Annealing with Crystallization Heuristic and Applications

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
This paper represents how typical advanced engineering design can be structured using a set of parameters and objective functions corresponding to the nature of the problem. The set of parameters can be in different types, including integer, real, cyclic,

Simulated Annealing for JPEG Quantization

open access: yes, 2017
JPEG is one of the most widely used image formats, but in some ways remains surprisingly unoptimized, perhaps because some natural optimizations would go outside the standard that defines JPEG.

Comparative Study of Multicanonical and Simulated Annealing Algorithms in the Protein Folding Problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
We compare a few variants of the recently proposed multicanonical method with the well known simulated annealing for the effectiveness in search of the energy global minimum of a biomolecular system. For this we study in detail Met-enkephalin, one of the

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Simulated annealing on uncorrelated energy landscapes

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1994
A function f:{0,1,2,L,a}n→R is said to be uncorrelated if Prob[f(x)≤u]=G(u). This paper studies the effectiveness of simulated annealing as a strategy for optimizing uncorrelated functions.

Relation of classical non-equilibrium dynamics and quantum annealing

open access: yes, 2015
Non-equilibrium dynamics of the Ising model is a classical stochastic process whereas quantum mechanics has no stochastic elements in the classical sense.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Simulated annealing with large-neighborhood search for two-echelon location routing problem

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2017
Considering the multi-level distribution network has becoming more and more common, a two-echelon location routing problem (2E-LRP) model was established based on minimum total cost objective function.

Deconstructing Simulated Annealing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Recent advances in mobile information and self-learning information offer a viable alternative to interrupts. Here, we disprove the refinement of the producer-consumer problem, demonstrates the practical importance of operating systems.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.
