Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Simulated annealing with large-neighborhood search for two-echelon location routing problem

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2017
Considering the multi-level distribution network has becoming more and more common, a two-echelon location routing problem (2E-LRP) model was established based on minimum total cost objective function.

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

A Phoenix++ Based New Genetic Algorithm Involving Mechanism of Simulated Annealing

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2015
Genetic algorithm is easy to fall into local optimal solution. Simulated annealing algorithm may accept nonoptimal solution at a certain probability to jump out of local optimal solution.

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Optimal Design for Multi-Diffuser Mufflers Using the Simulated Annealing Method

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2021
In this paper, a four-pole system matrix for evaluating acoustic performance (STL) is derived using a decoupled numerical method. During the optimization process, a simulated annealing (SA) method, which is a robust scheme utilized to search for the ...

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Simulated annealing for tensor network states

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2014
Markov chains for probability distributions related to matrix product states and one-dimensional Hamiltonians are introduced. With appropriate ‘inverse temperature’ schedules, these chains can be combined into a simulated annealing scheme for ground ...
