The corrosion of reinforcement has always been a problem to be solved in the field of architecture. In this paper, the corrosion characteristics of chromium alloy steel under different pH conditions are studied. The impedance characteristics and equivalent circuit are predicted by neural network model.

Localized corrosion behaviour of reinforcement steel in simulated concrete pore solution
Corrosion Science, 2009The correlation of localized corrosion behavior and microstructure of reinforcement steel in simulated concrete pore solutions was investigated. The SEM/EDS analysis showed that most of ferrite, minor amount of pearlite and some MnS inclusions existed on the steel surface.

Although much less investigated than that induced by chlorides, the corrosion of steel reinforcing bars due to bacteria metabolic products is recognised as a serious issue, primarily for concrete pipes in sewer network. In order to overcome the complications due to the preparation of concrete samples the investigation was performed using simulating ...

Molybdate-phosphate conversion coatings to protect steel in a simulated concrete pore solution
Surface and Coatings Technology, 2019Abstract For the corrosion protection of steel rebars in concrete, five different molybdate-phosphate conversion coatings were prepared, by changing the molybdate-phosphate ratio in the conversion baths. Their composition and morphology were studied with GD-OES, XPS, Raman spectroscopy and SEM-EDX and a schematic representation of their structure is ...

Effect of Sulfate on Corrosion Behavior of Reinforcing Steel in Simulated Concrete Pore Solutions
ECS Transactions, 2016Reinforcing steel in concrete is normally passivated against corrosion in the concrete pore solution with high alkalinity (often pH ≥ 12.5) resulting from the cement hydration. However, the carbonation of concrete and the presence of aggressive species may induce the breakdown of the passive film on the steel surface and the occurrence of steel ...

Abstract Corrosion of reinforcement steel forms a huge problem worldwide. A possible remedy for this problem is the application of corrosion inhibitors. The purpose of this research is to evaluate different inhibitors for both types of corrosion that can occur in reinforced concrete: pitting corrosion (by chloride attack), and uniform corrosion (by a

Effect of pH on the Corrosion Behavior of Reinforcing Steel in Simulated Concrete Pore Solutions
ECS Transactions, 2011Reinforcing steel in concrete is usually in a passive state due to the high alkalinity of the concrete pore solution. However, the passivity may be lost and the corrosion occurs on the steel by a decrease of pH due to carbonation. In this work, the effect of pH on the corrosion behavior of reinforcing steel in simulated concrete pore solutions was ...
